This is definitely the way for our great country to go.
Our long term water security depends on our governments doing the right thing and accepting best global practices.
And leading the way with the largest, cleanest unit is the Victorian government.
Thank god that common sense prevails.

Tried desalinated water for the first time in Japan about 15 years ago.
I must say it had a "sea" smell about it.
After the first glass, i had no problems or hesitations to drink it.
Definitly a great alternative.
Sure you were'nt drinking pussy juice?
As long as it didnt have a " sea men " smell
I presume it would now be refined a lot better since then ?
I suppose it doesnt really matter what anyones opinion is on whether they are for or against it as a number of plants are going ahead regardless. So we might as well accept the fact thats what we will be drinking at some stage.
i do belive western australia has been using a desal plant for quite some time, i think people are mad who oppose the building, at least if and when the dams die up, most of vic water comes from down my way anyway, their will be an alternative source, and its just like drinking pool water you get used to it because you have to drink it

Presumably we would be getting it mixed with mains dam water ?
I havent taken much of an interest in it as you can see
yes i think that is what WA does, i never liked the taste of their water, when compared with gipplsland
i think landline did a special on the WA desal plant but that was 4 - 5 years ago now
*Well i was wrong it was a year ago*
their is an interesting artical about it and i also read its at full capacity and they are buidling ANOTHER one

the one they are building up here on the gold coast ( tugun ) the water is going to be pumped back to the dam
I don't know anything about desalination as such, but doesn't it cost a lot of money to build a plant and then keep it running, maintenance on pumps, valves etc as you are dealing with sea water which requires the use of expensive bronze or stainless steel components, and replacing the osmotic membranes must be a large ongoing expense.
Compared to No water? What cost to live?
You might want to talk to some of our Farmers then.
Nice Trump.
