I buy a new vehicle every 3 years since 1991. I have had various set ups including vans, utes and station wagons. I find the Caddy setup and various shelving systems very expensive for what they provide. They look very professional but for the several thousand dollars to deck a vehicle out you have to think twice. My last two vehicles (inc my current ute) has plastic tubes which are sized to fit as many as possible in the given area and they lock together. This way I use nearly every inch of the ute area. Shelves, trays and fancy holders are nice but use a lot of space. I can easily remove all tubs in minutes leaving me with usable area to pick something up or go on holidays. Tubs are cheap, keep the dirt and dust off your gear because they are sealed and you can take the tub into the job to carry gear if required. My tubs cost $7.00 each for a 28 litre capacity.

CADDY - Overpriced and had nothing but problems with their canopy for my Hilux.

    Leaking and locking issues mainly.

Which canopy do you have fitted? Was it fitted at the workshop or did they fit it at your location?

I'm having the Workstyle canopy fitted, they advised its best to have it fitted at the workshop so they can water test it. Apparently this cant be done when its fitted on clients site.

Also, what locking issues do you have? The demo models I looked at all seemed pretty well built and felt strong in the locking latches.

As for overpriced, yes I somewhat agree, however what are the other options when it comes to something that will last? It seems they are the only group that have a variety of storage solutions for the industry..

Fitted at their workshop, two hilux trucks, both leak both locks cease up after heavy rain that we recently experienced in Sydney.

    Both went back for repairs.

You can give it a go, just giving you advice from experience.

I have had 2 of my own utes with canopy's, and 1 work ute with canopy.
They sucked, always leaking and getting broken into, even with alarm.
Ended up with a big lockup metal box, was a major pain in the arse.
Currently have a ford wagon on LPG, everything i need fits in the back, just use plastic tubs its perfect and its mega cheap for the company to run us around in, not to mention city parking is a breeze (vehicle height)

The original plan was to purchase the HiAce. However after test driving and finalising the price it was over the budget. Also you dont get much for what you pay for. So the boss chose the hilux.

Now the new Hyundai iLoad is available. Had it been available a few months ago I think we would have gone with that.

Vans are much more secure than a canopy, no water problems, more space.

However the height issue can be a problem with multilevel carparks.

VW have released a new longer version of their Caddy. Comes with a beefier engine too.

VYII S Pack, manual. With a big ass toolbox on back seat area. Works well, and its pretty quick.

What more could you want??? (For service work anyway)

How's this for a company car.

Seen this plenty of times around Auburn NSW, I think it might have something to do with keeping up with the new high powered vehicles in this area.

I.e WRX STI's, Evolution Lancers and GTR Skylines which are commonly used in armed robberies.

This would be the first car to be advised to pull out of a high speed pursuit.. most of these "exotic" vehicles are loaned by local dealerships for marketing purposes.. both for the dealer and showing police presence.. Even the highway patrol vehicles back off when speeds get too dangerous.. I think more helicopters are the way forward.

I can tell you that they don't always back off when speed gets dangerous.

In fact from what I have seen they dont back off at all.
