Default How can I find the card (USB Port) in GGedit & LMedit

In GGedit & LMedit, how do I get these programs to find the card (USB PORT) into which I have my Infinity USB unlimited reader / writer plugged into. I can not find the way in these programs to find the USB in which my reader / writer is plugged into, so that I can work on the cards.

In LMedit when I click on read, I get - "data interrupted - check card & connections"

In GGedit when I click on read, I get - "timeout error reading data"

There is no sign of the reader working in the above situations, ie flashing light, however when I do the read command in the Infinity Programme the light flashes etc until it comes to step 3 and says that the card is protected, so the actual reader must be OK

I have tried a aftermarket working gold card, and a irdeto card.

I've only ever used a Jaycar which has a serial/com port that you select. Does your USB programmer map to a com port?

You need to go to Virtual Com Port (VPC) mode under Tools and that is where you set you com port and all the other settings so you can use 3rd party software.

    Thanks all,

I run windows xp, and when I went into the Virtual Com Port Mode, as per above, a list of com's came up, now how can I identify what com port I have my device plugged into, and what should the other settings be in the virtual com port mode window.

    Regards
    Richard

The port you choose from the port list is the com port you have your device plugged into. But make sure the port you choose doesn't have a ! as this means the port is already taken (normally port 1 and 2).
The other settings depend on what you are doing thou normally it is:
    phoenix mode,
    3.579Mhz,
    Transparent Boost 1X,
    Optimized VCP profile - Default.

    Hope this helps

I do not have a USB Infinity Unlimited Programmer, (but here are some thoughts)

I have a USB (Sattronics) Card reader,

    I have windows XP,

I go to Device Manager, (Right Click My Computer > Properties . Hardware > Device Manager)

go to Ports > Expand ports, & mine shows up as USB Serial port (COM 4)

If you have multiple com Ports showing try to work out what each might be, maybe disconnect all other possible ports to try to identify the one being used

    Ok,

Now in your Infinity USB programmer, you need to set it to, Phoenix, 3.5 MHz (or 6.0 MHz)

either using the infinity software, or by setting jumpers....etc, (I am not familiar with your programmer)

Also you need to install the .ocx files for GGEdit or for LMEdit, (you will get errors if the .ocx files are not installed),

Next, When GGEdit or LMEdit open you must set the correct settings

    Mode: Phoenix
Com: 4 (for me, see above) (you will also get errors if you are using the wrong Com port)
    MHZ :3.5 (or 6.0 MHz)
    Card Type: GGold

    Insert the card

    Click read

if you have done it all correctly, (& the card is not protected, & has also been programmed using the Ghost gold files), the screen should fill up with details,

    Good Luck

here are the ocx files for LMEdit

Edit: To make a new card,

You would need to Program the Pic & the Eeprom with the Ghost files, first,(using the USB Infinity Unlimited's Software),

then write the Details to the card using GGedit or LMEdit.

    Default USB FTDI Serial issue

I also have the same problem. I am trying to use:
Trex programmer card that has a USB port on the loader card. In Win7 it is setup as com2. Plugging the usb in will make the lights on the loader card flash for 1-2 secs. So I think Windows recognizes the card ok(no exclamation mark in hardware devices, com2 appears ok each time in plug n pray). Perhaps a setting or different application is required?

I also have tried programming a PIC F84a with also a USB card writer. It has phoenix/smarthouse,3+5volt option, and 5 choices of (I guess) frequencies. I tried all combinations including card up or down in writer.

I also used the same writer as a reader and it partially provides some details in certain applications. I still think the FTDI drivers are not quite suitable and therefore giving poor logic symptoms. I also did all of above on XP...same outcome. I used the official FTDI and also treiber drivers, neither any better.

I have Googled for endless hours, but my symptoms provide very few forum results and all tend to be unanswered. Is USB devices flaky for this area of writing to hardware? Any help would be appreciated. The alternative is to get a CAS3, but that's another expense that I thought I do not need. After all USB card writers should write effortless and CAM loaders should load a dra.

Also same BS with season2 USB...perhaps in hindsight USB was a poor choice decision. Your thoughts and experience welcome.

If you are trying to use LMEdit or GGEdit,

have you installed the .ocx files ?

there was a recent post here that had the .ocx files in it, & how to install them, (have a look for it).

I have not used your programmer, & I am not familar with it,

you should try to find out if it is capable of program Gold Cards ,

most programmers will list the type of cards that it can program,

    I use 3.5Mhz to program a card

    Good Luck

LME and GGE only work with Ghostaman's codes from what I remember ( Ghost Gold, Ghost Silver/Emerald ). Can anyone confirm this ?

If your cards have AusGold ( silver ) or v17 ( gold ) they wont work if the above is true. Though I reckon 9 out of 10 cards would have Ghost on them.

Its hard to believe 10 years have passed since this was all the rage I used to know it back to front, now I cant remember shit
