might need a pic of the beast, or as least a diagram?
I have a really old homemade pheonix from early early ird-1 days, i use to run it 9volts same as Elvis, it worked for all cards, gold, silver, and mosc but it wont read gamma, i upped to 12v it read it once, then wont again then got it to work once more ect, is this phoenix to old or need more volts

i think 12v killed the gamma, cant get a ATR now even with Elvis, bloody hell
Does your home made phoenix have a 5v regulator on board? If not I reckon you've killed your card.

silly if it didnt huh? hope it wasnt a card that you use
one and only card now, i will take a pic soon
I don't see a regulator on there. I would of thought a 5V supply would be the max input.

doesnt a card need 13.5v to program and 5v to read, i am sure i read that many many years ago
Found this at AdTeKnik makers of Elvis
4. -The programmer fails to program smartcards with a PIC-microcontroller like the Goldcard but it runs perfectly on Funcards.
The coil under the programmer is particularly sensitive for damages, that's why we are sending the programmer with the disc inside the plastic bag in order to protect the components of the programmer.
If the coil is damaged, the autodetect function will not detect and program pic-cards since the coil is used to generate the*** 13V programming voltage ***required for programming and detection of these chips. However the programmer can still program eeproms and atmel chips, and work as a smartmouse/phoenix interface even though the coil is damaged
So one would think 12v is safe, but it stuffed the card, i have played with this card for nearly 3 years, trying everything, with Elvis, fist time i tried the pheonix and BAM!!
youll find you need 8 volts min to erase and program the pic of a gold, sivler or emerald card. You only need 5 volts to program the eeprom , which is what you would have been doing to the gamma card. Also i dont see the image . ?!
link works for me
