In 64 bit they DONT go into System32, there is thread here somewhere about Win7 64bit
c:\windows\sysWOW64
Or
You need to put the MSCOMCT2.OCX (ect.) in the same folder as your program.
Eg. if your program is in C:\MyApp folder, then put the MSCOMCT2.OCX file in C:\MyApp folder too.
And create a shortcut and run %systemroot%\SysWoW64\regsvr32.exe C:\MyApp\MSCOMCT2.OCX as administrator
Also turn OFF User Account Control Settings

GG-Edit is only for Gold, hence the name "Ghost Gold Editor"
Yes it works the same, back in the day Lave made that first, then when Silver and Emerald cards where cheap and popular, he made Lave's Multi Editor, and added Seca-1 keys, so LM does Gold Silver Emerald, GG does Gold only
where are all the old members, Lave, Ghostaman, Voyager, Zbee, Art, Scooterpig, ect.. hepas more than cant remember the names, old age is catching up
mcmuzzy Win98 usually works fine, are you using a com port with that pc, or usb-com
i am using onboard serial port. this is what i have done pls advise me what i have done wrong or still need to do
in system32 folder i have placed the following files and registered them using the run box with regsvr command all came up successful
Comct232.ocx
comct332.ocx
comctl32.ocx
comdllg32.ocx
mscomctl.ocx
Mscomm32.ocx
Mshflxgd.ocx
Mswinsck.ocx
Richtx32.ocx
tabctl32.ocx
once that is done i check the port settings under device manager and double click on com port1 click port settings tab and this is what i see.
bits per second 9600
data bits 8
parity none
stop bits 1
flow control Xon/Xoff
and under the advanced tab Use Fifo buffers is ticked and recieve buffer is 14 and transmit buffer is on 16.
*i did the same for comport2 and all the same.
After that i check my GGedit 212b which i extracted and had placed in the program files folder clicked install bat and saxcomm8.ocx was registered successfully which i left is that directory folder have not moved it.
I created desktop shortcut for ggedit to desktop and then restarted my win98 machine. connected my mastera V to serial plugged in power to mastera set it to phoenix 6mhz , placed gold card in which works in my humax and fired up ggedit on ggedit. when ggedit comes up the lock coco 1 and 3 is ticked i select com port 1 and 6 mhz. the speed slider bar is in the centre so half way and phoenix is selected for mode. i click on read and get data interrupted or corrupt.
i did the same with comport 2 settings in ggedit
please tell me what i am doing wrong or what files i am missing and where should they be placed if i have made any mistakes

Partition your HDD and install Win98.., I got an old P2 lappy, always works!,tried with XP Service Pack 2 no go!..
WIN 2000 works ok too.
for ggedit on my machine with my masteria I left the scroll bar and everything default.
Masteria on 0 = 6mhz phoenix mode
s/w set to 6mhz
slidebar all the way to the left.
also
masteria on 1 = 3.5mh phoenix mode
s/w set to 3.5mhz
slidebar all the way to the left.
Lave-multi dont work AT ALL on my machine with any combinations.
I tried all different settings etc and turning off UAC & running as administrator.
Im no NOVICE either. It just dont work on some machines like Dave001 said.
My smartmouse USB programmer works like a charm with Lave MultiEdit on same PC .

From memory in Win98 the ocx files go to System, NOT System32 (yep system just checked)
Few mistakes in this thread
Win98 = System Folder
ME / XP / Vista / Win7 (32bit) = System 32 Folder
Win7 (64bit) = sysWOW64 Folder
Win98 Com Port Settings
Bits per seconds - 9600
Data bits - 8
Parity - None
Stop bits - 1
Flow control - Xon /Xoff
FiFo - Ticked
Recieve Buffer - 14 Slider 3/4 mark High
Transmint Buffer - 16 Slider all the way High
ME / XP / Vista Com Port Settings
Bits per seconds - 9600
Data bits - 8
Parity - None
Stop bits - 1
Flow control - None
FiFo - Ticked
Recieve Buffer - 14 Slider all the way High

Why not use Windows XP? This is what I have used in the past with a Jaycar.

XP, doesnt work for everyone, guessing 30% maybe 40% doesnt work, in the early days of XP and ird-1 lots of people had probs with XP but most had 98 machine also to fall back on
XP doesnt work for me, but running Virtual Machine 2007 thats running 98se works fine, no rebooting or changing computers, just wait a min for 98 to start up, in a window (or fullscreen) or a couple of seconds to start from a "saved state"

Are you using the right Cable straight through, not null modem cross-over
i am using my old win98 SE machine. and the mistake i did according to your post Jaz808 was that I placed the ocx files in system32 folder and not system folder. the cable i am using is a serial cable 9 pin on each side male one side for serial port in pc and female on other side to go onto Mastera V.
Could you also pls advise me besides the ocx files for win98 and other 32 bit systems what dll files is Dave001 refferring to and where do they go.
I will try it in the morning when i wake up as i just got home from work.
Out of curiosity on my win7 x64 machine if i was to also try and run it on that with my pci serial card are the com port settings the same as vista and XP and the ocx plus 2 dll files included for x64 do they also go into the sysWOW64 Folder or somewhere else. Also does the saxcomm8.ocx for ggedit stay where it is in the ggedit program files directory folder or does that have to also be moved to either system or system32 or sysWOW64 folder depending on operating system being used and then registered like the others instead or running bat file from ggedit program files directory folder.

Ok sounds like right cable, as Straight is Male/Female, and Null Modem (cross-over) is Female/Female
Win98 only needed ocx files in System Folder and not the dll's, but it doesnt hurt if they are added
Yes saxcomm8.ocx can stay in the original folder, just need to run the bat file
In my post a few above shows what Operating Systems need the ocx files in what folder
Cant believe 98 is giving you trouble
What can sometimes work is put LM-Edit and or GG-Edit in a Folder with all the ocx files
Mate you got any really old pc's laying around, if so chuck Win98 on that with the ocx files in system folder, you are just unlucky to be have these probs with Win98 on that pc
