Set up dish for D2 (sydney metro)
Im about to put up a second dish at my house and wanted info on the best way to find and position the dish on Optus D2. Any tips, guides would be appreciated.
Big thanks!

What is your first dish pointed to? If it's on Optus C1, just set the elevation on your dish to just a degree or too higher on the elevation, and D2 is just west of C1 (viewed behind the dish).

ahh ok good advice - yes my first dish is at C1 so will take note of position and try your adjustments.
Yeah, if your aligning your new dish next to your old one, it will make it much easier. D2 is slightly higher than C1, by a degree or two, and is four degrees west than C1. Good Luck.

its nowhere near it unfortunately but as I said ill make a note of position and see how close I can get it.
Yeah aslong as your elevation is correct, you should be able to pan from east to west & find the satellite no matter where the dish is.

hmm not having much luck - i have an el cheapo sat finder connected to the lnb and topfield box. LNB power is on and have input the transponder info ... im waiting to search channels.. Do i need to perform the search or for the sat finder to work or not?
No, put in 12706V transponder into your box, then try with your satfinder again. Is the LNB frequency correct. Try to find the Foxtel satellite (C1) using the same elevation etc, then try to go to D2 from there. What are your dishes (prime focus or offset?)

prime focus...gonna try this TP now..
Yes, if you use 12407V, both Optus D2 & C1 have this TP, and you might land up on the wrong sat.
Try 12706V 22500 3/4 for alignment to D2.

dman im having no luck at all. sat finder seems to be going off at something but it doesnt look like the right co-ordinates. Quality meter on screen doesnt budge either.
Quality comes into play by rotating the LNB
When you check your quality, make sure you set the satfinders knob back to 0, instead of in the minuses, some el-cheapo satfinders attenuate the quality.
Btw it's best if you can get the TV near the dish, I find it easier to align than using a satfinder.
Are the lnb lo and your topfield settings correct?
So D2 relative to C1 is up 0.5 deg and west 7.3 deg.

Try to get it on c1 first,
then you know you can get pictures.
Move it a bit to the west for d1 then.

yes I have a sharp lnb (same as what foxtel install) and set the topfield to 11300. Thanks for that chart Farmsky that should help out a bit tomorrow.
But is the sharp lnb an 11300 or a 10700?
