Bricked Samsung bd p 1500
Updated firmware today via network connection - was prompted by on screen message that update available.
After update completed - machine now displays loading - nothing else happens. Unable to open tray to insert a disc.
The player is out of warranty and I think not worth paying someone to fix.
Should I contact Samsung to see if they will repair. I do not have much experiance with contacting service centres and what to say to service staff re out of warranty repair.
Player was working fine untill firmware update!

Yeah ring Samsung customer care tell them what happened and they may authorise a out of warranty repair as it was one their firmware upgrades that may have caused the problem

bricked samsung
Just off the phone to Samsung customer care. They advised after consulting with their service tech not to update firmware via network directly to blu ray as it can brick the blu ray. Customer care would not advise why samsung customers not advised re not updating via network link.
They will not cover any repairs for my player when I asked re this.
I will try the office of fair trading

Referred this to consumer affairs in Victoria. On line application - two follow up calls from consumer affairs re clarification of fault.
Outcome from consumer affair that Samsung agreed to out of warranty repair at no cost. I picked up the player today - all working!
