    Default Foxtel Pixelating

    Hi

I have a foxtel IQ2 HD Box, and the hd channels and free to air channels
have funny looking images on the screen

it looks like it is pixelating and ghosting

    seems maybe interference.

Does the foxtel cable generally need to be away from power sockets or telephone lines

called foxtel and want to charge me $200 + if they do not find a fault...

    any idea's

Has it been doing it since day 1 after it was installed ?

    or only started recently ?

Have you changed anything, (cables, STB's other equipment near or to the Foxtel IQ2) since it was installed ?

Has it been working before ? If so has something changed recently - any loose cables?

If it did not do it before you got Foxtel IQ2, then I would get foxtel to come & find the problem,

Are there any electric fences or other un-usual Electrical equipment near-by ?

Also try to rule out your TV & connected equipment, maybe turn off all electrical equipment near your TV (or in your house), & see if it fixes the problem,

if it does , then turn them on one by one, until the offender is identified,

    Good Luck

Edit: Maybe disconnect all other equipment from your TV except the IQ2

Bad connection on the RG cable, LNB failing or dish point out of adjustment usually.

    Wink

Get them out to fix your problem since they did the installation.
They have to prove if it something else that caused the problem which is extremely rare, 99 % most times its their equipment and the 1% is yours in which case the $200- fee will be worth spending to fix that problem.

If you had to pay a TV techy to come out you will pay a lot more!!!

The installer obviously didn't check the signal quality from the HFC network when it was installed. There are probably an excess number of splitters on your connection which should be rectified with a tech call out.
It's not something you'll be charged for as it clearly looks like a signal quality level issue which a tech should be able to fix quickly.
Stop wasting time posting on the forum and get a tech booked in to fix it ASAP. You should have reported the fault to Foxtel immediately instead of wasting time taking pictures.

I also don't know why people are making silly suggestions about dish connections etc since this thread has been posted in the cable connection and it's obvious to anyone that is familiar with the different IQ2 versions that it's the cable version shown in the photos.

Being cable it could also be a laser alignment issue.

    - Is the installation in a high rise apartment building? There are quite a few sites that use cable receivers in a satellite set-up by utilising a QPSK to QAM headend. So there may be issues with the modulation error ratio (MER).
    - Is it occuring with a group of channels or ALL channels?
