Wiring help with GE Networx NX4 Alarm
Hi,
Im hoping someone here can help me.
I have a GE Networx NX4 Alarm with 4 * Zodiac Pro PIR's.
I am a little confused on how to wire the PIRs to the NX4
The PIR has 6 terminals:
2 - tamper
2 - alarm
2 - 12v + and -
I am not worried about wiring the tamper switch.
The NX4 alarm has the following terminals:
17 ac
16 ac
15 earth
14 auxout 1
13 siren
12 com
11 smoke+
10 auxout 2

9 data }
8 com }code pad
7 pos }

just unsure how to connect the alarm terminals.
i know + 12v goes to z1. and -12v to common
where do the alarm terminals on the PIR connect to.

will do chimp. everything else looks straigt forward apart from the PIR's.

dont see the tamper switch as that necessary.

rick81, if you need to ask a question like this then it is time the close the lid and walk away. Take the advise offered by the previous 4 people. Somethings people should not play with if they don't know especially when you have the information you need already on hand. The smart thing is to know your limitations.
If you do not understand the manual on connecting the devices to the panel, how are you going to be able to program the system?
The best thing is to call a LICENSED SECURITY Installer and get them to connect and program the system.
At least then you know you may be covered by insurance should something go wrong.
I don't want to have a go at you, but I really beleive you should just leave it for the people in the know before you damage the board.
wire the 12v + on the PIRs to POS terminal on panel
wire the 12V - on the PIRs to COM terminal on the panel
place the resistor between the alarm and tamper inputs on the PIR, and wire the two remaining terminals on the alarm and tamper inputs into Zn 1 & COM (not power COM, the COM right next to zn1).
For Zone 2, same thing just use Zn 2 and the same zoneCOM as zone 1.
For Zone 3, use zn 3 and the zoneCOM inbetween zn 3 & 4
For Zone 4, use zn4 and the same zoneCOM as zn 3.

The installation manual has all the solutions to the question printed clearly even with the connection drawings of the PIR,s. In our industry the biggest problem with some installers is that they can read the instructions and you should have read connection instructions then would not have been ridiculed like you are at present.
Why don't you post the default installer code and the procedures to defaulting the system while your at it. After all it is a public forum and our industry needs to be open to the public...
ACA Licences have been introduced for a reason, to stop people like the one you helped, from doing any work to a device which has the potential to connect to the telecommunications network. And judging by his wiring diagram reading skills (he pointed out the page in the manual) I do not think he is qualified to perform the task you assisted him with.

To the OP, you've bitten off more than you can chew, and we've seen it all before. Most of the guys here want to see you with a good alarm that works properly.
You want to save a few bucks by doing as much of it yourself, and there is nothing wrong with that.
How about finding a friendly installer and see if he can do the panel and programming for you and you do the rest under he's supervision? It will cost ya sure, but it's gotta be better than turning your shiny NX into toast, or worse.

I'm an electrician and I say that if this guy wants to do some wiring then He's better off wiring a security panel thats only 12v and harmless then wiring actual 240V cabel, give him a break for peak sake! If he blows up his own panel then its his own damn fault, good on ya whoever it was who told him how to actually do it!! This is bloody australia not the USA. 240V is a no go zone on the other hand.
