Hard to tell because I operate mine with the lid on. I imagine the cooling will be better with the lid on because there will be a forced draft across the heat sink.

Thanks for the reply the fan really does not do anything other than keep the power supply cool and with the lid off will make things a little cooler, but if someone has got the lid off next time can they check please, maybe im being paranoid.
    Thanks

Not necessarily, it should be designed to have a better airflow across heatsinks with the cover on.

All the boxes I've tested are as cool as a cucumber.

I'm sure the heat being disappated by the heatsing is normal even though you might think it's too hot. With the lid on and the fan running it will be drawing enough air in to keep it cool.

Leroy is right. With the cover off you are relying on convection currents to cool the heat sink. Put the cover back on and the forced draft will keep it cool

Also you'll notice there are no vents on the top cover for 'natural' convection like other receivers so it's relying on the fan.

I had another look at this morning and the cable is shown as FREE with any Vu+ purchase.

So with the austech coupon code, the Vu+ Duo price is $555 + delivery ($20) from that site.

With a 24 month local warranty, that's pretty good IMHO.
