    Default Vista on dead hdd

Hi. I have a hp computer with vista but the hard drive died I think( wont start up any more). My question is I own the vista operating system on the hdd, so if I replace the hdd I dont have a disk of vista. Do I just download or borrow one and use my product key on the side of the box? Will there be any other issues? Has 7 been fixed (so to speak?). Should 7 be the preferred option?
    Any input is appreciated
    Thanks Faulty

Hp dont supply a windows cd,Hp do put a back up image on hard drive.
you should allways do a back up to cd as explained in booklet for Hp.
Vista drivers work with win7.I have a few drivers for Hp,depends on what model you have.HP CAN SUPPLY DRIVER CD AT A COST.
You could use linux live cd to test your pc and may recover file(may).

As for your question in regard to Win7 it's faster and a lot more refined than Vista....

I find it great and love the fact it does a lot of the hard work for you and contains everything you need....

After 7 goes at it they (Microsoft are getting there) except the bloody price.
