Default Replacement for SelecTV UEC DSD-990?

Well, my SelecTV UEC DSD990 seems to have finally gone belly up permanently. Some of you may seen my post about it displaying 'bE1' when booting. Unfortunately, it lost power again and now the fix that someone kindly gave me doesn't work anymore; perhaps SelecTV are no longer broadcasting the firmware now. It tries to download it, but it gives up with an error of "0x80000D06"

Anyway, it's probably time I got something better than that crappy box; does anyone have any recommendations for a low-cost box? I don't want to spend more than $300, and preferably less than that; should I just get an Arion AF-3330, like those which SelecTV are now providing to new subscribers?

yeah. the arion would be good. if you like to fiddle, and don't mind being bitten by the satellite bug, then i wouldn't go past a strong 4653x, or 4658x. they are $130 to $160.

Strong 4658X ( X is for a CAM ) is avail for about $110 off ebay. Has one of the best Supports going round. Tonnes of Aussies have them, so any problems are quickly dealt with. Very user friendly and even ya misses can turn it on. So it's gotta be good.

the 'x' doesn't mean a CAM. 4653x has a card slot, and 4658x has a card slot and a CAM. the 'x' denotes that it is a new model, faster, and blind scan.
