I was under the impression SKY NZ is using a spot beam on New Zealand, so you wouldn't be able to receive it from Australia.
Ok Just got back from NZ and one of my mates got this new (12 months old?) digital TV. Straight away I saw it was a separate SAT receiver from the current SKY NDS boxes.
Anyway, my question is, can I get free TV. Looked up Lyngsat and its Optus D1
and looked at the beam charts. Just want to make sure wether I can or cannot recieve those channels (with the right equipment)
Cheers

Just out of Interest, Is Sky NZ better than Foxtel?
Don't know about NZ jonc, but it must be bad if F*tel offers more content....Missus recorded 1.5 hours of UK TV yesterday to pvr, she then cut out all the adds and future show promo re-runs, turns out the three programs actual viewing time was slightly over 1 hour.
Really gives one the s***s.........
thanks guys for info...bummer would enjoy some kiwi fta...some good tv i reckon...more channels than oz now!!
How far north are you talking? And what satellite is this on? Would be interesting to try.
Most people I know here only have SKY for the sport. Now we have Freeview I've heard of lots of people who only had SKY because of poor analog reception of free channels are cancelling their subscriptions. The FTA box can be swapped out with the SKY box and they're up and running straight away.
