Default PS3 Error Code 80010006 Please help.

My son needs help with his new Ps3. I have done a search and can't find any help so I thought I would ask.
My son has just pulled it out of the box. When he turns it on it does a system update then gets to approx 40% then stops. This has happened over and over again. It always stops at the same place. The error code is 80010006. I can find lots of same stories on the net but no real solutions.

***An error occurred during the start operation (cause is corrupted folding install)****

If anyone could help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

try doing a complete format and reinstall,
from memory from standby hold the on button and you will here it beep after 5 seconds, keep holding and it will turn itself off.
now do it again anafter 5 seconds it will beep once followed by 2 beeps now let go and it will enter service mode where you can restore.

Download the system update to a USB Stick
    Put the update in \PS3\UPDATE

Boot via the service menu (as detailed above).
Choose the option at the bottom (clear and apply update)
It will find the update from the USB stick and install.
