Hi everyone, first time Austech poster here...
First, to everyone involved - great forum - excellent information and discussions; I've been lurking for a while and joined a few weeks ago...
Here's my first question:
I know that every time you stub your toe on an imported (chinese) GPS, out pops a copy of some reputable NAV software, and usually IGO8. Some of these I expect have slightly "grey" licenses I think... Now I have bought a chinese in-car GPS for a specific make / model of car. The particular item is not generally sold outside of China as far as I can tell, and it has been a bit of a marathon to get it this far. It comes with WinCE 5.0 loaded, but with no SD Card and so no NAV software. I am thinking of importing a batch of these to sell to people in a particular car club, and so if I want to do things "by the book", does anyone know where / how to get properly licensed copies of IGO8? I have tried the nav n go website, but can't find anything for this hemisphere, and even contacted the UK distributor to see if they could point me in the right direction, but they couldn't help either..
Who is the local distributor etc, does anybody know?
cheers,
..Neil

You could try these guys
They appear to sell legit stuff
Brian
These people sell their vesrion of iGO8 (techrific-way)
man seems easier to get pirated copies than legit ones....
The ALDI Go Cruise GPS 4300 units are distributed in aus by Tempo(Aust) P/L,
Sydney 02 9975 2199. -tempoaustralia.com.au.
Came with Igo8.3 and sensis R17 mapping.
(bought in March)
This place has IGo software for sale but I can't tell if it pirated or not.
At Aus$19 including postage the price isn't bad and comes on a 2GB SD card.

It would have to be dodgy at that price wouldnt it ? Isnt it map only though ?
Slightly off topic, has anyone bought anything off that site ? They have interesting gear.
Yeah, its a very cheap price.
If moonan is really intrested in obtaining Igo he could email and find out if it is legit or not.
Also I think it is the complete software package and map loaded on to a 2GB card.
I have bought some stuff of there before I knew about dealextreme and doggy chinese mobile phones. I got a phone off him and when I got it I couldn't use java so I complained to him, He got back to me a couple of hours later and admitted it didn't have java. He offered $50 back to keep the phone, not wanting the phone I wanted a refund. He was accomadating and said to post it back the cheapest way, which I did and took a few photos of the package at the postoffice. He refunded all my money within a hour of emailing him.
I wouldn't be buying some of the stuff there especially the "self defence" catagory.
