    Default Vista Problem

I have another thread on here about Data Recovery, Well update is, I have put HDD in external case. I can see pics, vids, music etc. I can also see program files and windows files. But windows seems to be corrupt?
Is there somethings that I could try to repair windows without losing data?

    Thanks

Hi If Vista on your HDD.is installed into your System PC it came from.an you insert a Genuine Vista Install disc.
if you boot from CD/Dvd as in a new install eg.boot set in bios to boot from this rather than Hdd as first option.
You will find option to Repair Windows Vista.or maybe new install or whatever?
You run the repair option,it will scan an fix many corrupt files,an vista will boot an run.
But then in the first place How do you know Windows is corrupt?Well?Tell us,What you know Clearly? an we can help.
    Cheers!

Thanks Rick, I have tried the repair option about 20 times. It goes through the motions, reboots and then hangs on the black screen with the green bars running down the bottom of the screen, it will stay like this overnight too. I have tested ram and had another HDD in this laptop, which booted fine. So assuming windows is corrupt.

    Cheers

I just got into the advanced diagnostics part of the failed repair and it came up with the error message "a recent driver installation or upgrade may be preventing the system from starting" But I cant do a system restore either?

I tried win ultimate boot cd, but it seems to be for XP. Is it suitable for Vista?
    I am struggling with this.
