Unhappy Can my wii be chipped?

My full wii serial number as it appears on the wii is exactly LAH12020162[2]

So, can my Wii be chipped at all? I don't understand all the tech talk so I might not really understand what your saying. Thanks in Advance

    Hi,

Yes all Wii consoles can be chipped however some are more expensive than others.

Im afraid your consoles is actually one of these.

It has the D3-2 driveboard (circuit board) so to Chip it with a traditional modchip(wiikey 2 / drivekey) you need to purchase a replacement DVD driveboard as well. This will allow you to play DVD backups.

    Otherwise look at WODE
It will allow you to load games off a USB HDD and also copy your original games onto a USB HDD, however it will not let you play DVD backups.

I probably havn't been clear enough so if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

    Cheers

When you say "all wii consoles can be chipped" does this include the Black wii? Also is a DVD backup pretty much mean a DVD?

    Hello

I would just softmod it, games will work off usb drive and you use your wii to backup your games to usb drive so the disc's can be put away.
I followed this tutorial you need a usb hard drive and 2gb sd card.

You have to registar which is free to see passwords for files.

Yes all wii consoles can be chipped even the black ones.

A few of my customers have said the white WODE stand and black wii looks nice as well.

DVD backup means a copy of your original DVD.

Id be really careful telling someone not too techy (apparent from his questions) to "softmod" their own wii console.

Im getting about 2-3 wii consoles in a week now for unbricking. These 2-3 consoles owners are the smart ones that took NAND backups prior to softmodding so there consoles could be recovered.

They are paying $180 for a infectus to be soldered onto their NAND and the NAND reprogrammed externally.

Nintendo CAN tell that you have soft-modded your console and your warranty is void as soon as you play around with any IOS files. If you send the console to nintendo after bricking it you are looking at $250 for a replacement motherboard.

Moral of this story is, Get the job done properly first time around.

Can you explain WODE a bit more? Is it something I have to download or is it a chip?

    Thanks

His decision if he's up to it or not,The tutorial worked for me i would suggest to have a good read first before doing anything as there are warnings in it on what not to do.

Hrmmm. It seems like WODE is the easiest to use for me. I understand it and i'm pretty sure My brother could install it. From my understanding, all you have to do Is have the game you want to play on a USB HDD (or whatever it is) and have them run @8x speed and it should work (although i'm sure it's not as simple as that).

USB HDD / PSP / IPOD / Any mass storage USB Device.

You can also copy your original games to the USB HDD via WODE itself.

Can I copy the games to my USB HDD first? Cause my wii won't read any discs :P
