Default Canon Pixma iP4300 replacement ink

Has anyone had experience with refilling these ink cartridges or getting the non-genuine one and replacing the chio

I know it is something like $90 to buy genuine.

The printer is only $127 with a full set...sheesh

i use summit ink which i get from the markets. I pay 4 bux coz i buy bulk but these usually go for around 6bux and theyr ejsut as god. Theyre liquid pigment, not powder so you wont get any clogs or blockages..

In teh thousand or so tanks ive bought, maybe half a dozen were duds, but thats ok... theyve paid themselves off many times over

I hear there is a chip resetter that comes from UK but it's too pricey and only big refill companies can afford it at the moment.
also heard that chip replacement only works for the first few refills then stops completely and of course you have to manually guage the ink levels as the chip says its always empty.
Those cli chipped cartridges are a real pain.

    Thanks Padre

I might just head to the local markets to check the summit ink out.

Somethings in life have to be refillable these days... not just throw away like eveything else

If you go that way, this may help...got it off the web

INK CART REFILLING ON NEW ip4200 Printers (and similar)
    WORK-AROUND

    Here's what you can do....

Easiest, but it disables the ink tank level indicators.
    1) Ignore the low ink indicator, and press the RESET BUTTON to continue printing. If you press and hold the reset button for 5+ seconds, it will disable the counter for that particular ink tank. Refill tank now.

    2) Repeat as needed.
You will get a dire warning that this will void you warranty, blah blah blah. If you do need to take your printer in during warranty and you've disabled ink tank counting, simple reset the entire printer as describe below for the waste tank warning, and nobody will ever know. SAVE YOUR CANON CARTS with a bit of ink left in- your printer will need to have Canon carts installed for warranty service.

    3) Eventually you may be warned that the tank is empty. Press reset as above to disable and continue printing.

If you think this entire thing is ridiculous- you are right.

    Here's the ip4200 reset options:
    1) With the printer power turned off, while pressing
the Resume/Cancel button, press and hold the Power
button. (DO NOT release the buttons. The Power LED
lights in green to indicate that a function is
    selectable.)

    2) While holding the Power button, release the
resume/Cancel button. (DO NOT release the Power
    button.)

    3) While holding the Power button, press the
Resume/Cancel button 2 times, and then release both
the Power and Resume/Cancel buttons. (Each time the

Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the Alarm and
Power LEDs light alternately, Alarm in orange and Power
in green, starting with Alarm LED.)

    4) When the Power LED lights in green, press the
Resume/Cancel button the specified number of
    time(s)
    setting).

u dotn need to do al that..

ive got an ip5000 and all u need to do press the resume buton if ink warnings pop up. even if the tanks tell u theyre empty

U can squeeze about another 20 a4 pages of colour by doing this..

another trick is to grab a program called inksaver. Its a printer driver which runs alongside whatever pinter you use, and before the file is sent to the printer for printing, it intercepts the ink use command, allowing u to tweak the actual ink usage before its printed
