    Default Whitey Fixes Here.

This help is for invalid or no ATR on your whitey not a fix ot get pics ha ha, also this may help anyone buying or selling cards so you will know if they are public or sellers ones tho most of you would already know whats what,i have copied this from another site and some memebers may have already seen it but ill paste it here for the ones who haven't,the main reason is that people i know have bought whiteys to find out the card is not the right one or others had invaild ATR due to some people stating "i have no idea as i have no rewriter or it was fine when i checked it last" etc.
Im not sure if this is already on austech somewhere but anyway its here now.

Thanks to who ever it was that wrote this.

    Gamma card ATR
If a card appears to have invalid or no ATR, follow the next steps to understand if the card still works..

A good approach first is to know the ATR of a blank Atmel AT90SC7272C smartcard (this type of smartcard is used for Gamma cards)

    3B 7F 11 00 00 00 6B 1A 0E 06 4B16 36 23 09 11 03 05 90 00

1A indicates that this is the 7272c chip type (and not the 3232c or 6464c)

    0E 06 4B16 36 23 09 11 this is the smartcard’s serial number

    03 05 the boot-loader’s version number

90 00 this indicates that the card is virgin

Smartcards (Atmel AT90SC7272C processor) programmed with the Gamma OS have got ATR:

    ATR Gammacard V1.4
    3B 9F 21 0E 47 41 4D 4D 41 43 41 52 44 20 56 20 31 2E 34 9D

Then if you want to emulate Ird**o (explain: load a gam file), the ATR changes to

    ATR Ird**o ACS V4.1
    3B 9F 21 0E 49 52 44 45 54 4F 20 41 43 53 20 56 34 2E 31 9D

    And for newer Ird**o access

    ATR Ird**o ACS V5.0
    3B 9F 21 0E 49 52 44 45 54 4F 20 41 43 53 20 56 35 2E 30 9D

    ATR Ird**o ACS V5.3
    3B 9F 21 0E 49 52 44 45 54 4F 20 41 43 53 20 56 35 2E 33 9E

    ATR Ird**o ACS V5.4
    3B 9F 21 0E 49 52 44 45 54 4F 20 41 43 53 20 56 35 2E 34 99

*If the card is blocked then usually the ATR ends to 69 83

In my opinion in the 90% of the cases, where the ATR is missing the problem lies in the not appropriate connection and use of a programmer..

First we do need to consider that the COM port must be enabled the same for the program and for the windows control panel.
Secondly the cable should be straight RS232 M-F (not Null modem cable and if we use adapter to USB sometimes it doesn't work)
Then consider the drivers if needed for the adapter..
Also if we want to use a PCI expansion serial com port consider again the installation of the drivers (sometimes it will never work)..
Very important issue is the operate system we use. For example I use windows Vista 64 and in that computer I cannot use EMK in all the ways
In my old computer (Windows XP SP3) with onboard com ports everything works smoothly..

Recently the new software developed for the CAS3, the CAS studio 8.6, in my opinion is the BEST to work with Gamma cards..
Many people have reported that when they used the CAS3 the ATR appeared immediately (other programmers didn't work apparently)..
Besides, almost nobody have reported so far that he missed his Gamma card's ATR while using the CAS3 (of course everything may happened..)
The advantage is that we don't need to connect the serial cable, only USB is enough for power and data.

Concluding answer to reset (ATR) describes the first communication between a chip card and a card reader.
Therefore the most important issue is the MHz which is set to work the programmer and then it will be able to read the smartcard..
So when using a Phoenix programmer (or we emulate CAS3 to work as Phoenix in utilities), we should set it work @ 6MHz

Also remember to use appropriate power supply voltage (if needed)

Has anyone had any success using ATR Repair-Kit beta Revision 1.0.0. to get the atr back? I've just fired it up now because my card has an ATR but an unknown ATR.

I got the Serial Port Monitor running and its sending 16 byte strings to it so its definitely doing something.

    LOL, hardly surprising.
That would be like plugging a 240v lightbulb into 1000v.
Did the gamma glow red or white(sic) hot??

No, just slight browning on the back of the chip.
Blown Humax 5400Z, Strong SRT 4658X, Strong 4663X and DM 518.

Ahh so you are only meant to hit it with 12volts for no more than 2000 milliseconds :S

The source for the website cited points to the page at

As you have discovered, it gives a brief analysis of the ATR entered.

There is a much more detailed description of the composition of an ISO 7816 ATR at and similar sites.
