Default windows vista home premium download??

I have a toshiba laptop that needs windows re installed. It came with windows vista home premium installed but not disks for it. The recovery disks that came with the lap top dont work. Is there somewhere I can download vista or is this a no no. I have the keys and I dont want some virus infected file. I think you can contact microsoft and for $20 you can get it but is that a download link or a disk posted?

Have you checked for a hidden boot partition on the hard drive. I think OEM serials will only work with oem discs , not retail.

you will need to contact Toshiba not Microsoft for recovery disks( is the laptop still under warranty?)
what model is the laptop? maybe some members here can help you with that.

if you haven't played with the partitions, you should have the recovery partition intact, follow this and you should be able to fix it without any CDs.
While the laptop is completely off, have it plugged in, put your finger on the "0" Zero and power it on keeping your finger on the zero, and pressing it repeatedly, that should boot your toshiba from the hidden recovery partition then follow the instructions and it will recover to out of box manufacturer setting just like the way you bought it.
    Good Luck

    1) Hold down the power button for 10 (ten) seconds to switch off your machine.

Please note: Holding down the power button on the machine forces it to switch off. Any unsaved data will be lost.

    2) Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, tap the power button once to switch on your notebook.

    3) When the machine Starts beeping; release the 0 key.

    4) When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the system recovery.

    5) Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next.
