Had the same drama is your antenna external if so when you installed did you leave it above dash or below - First time i had my antenna under dash on top of my unit and i would not receive.. have moved it to top of dash full signal.

This is what I did. (My gps is no brand, made by mesada, 7" samsung chip) running wince5.0)

    In IGo:
    Tap settings
Tap Arrow to go to second page
    Tap GPS
"GPS Enabled" is ticked, untick this
    Tap Autodetect

This will find the correct port & baud, and automatically store it, no need to worry about sys.txt.

Important: You need to be in open space to get this working.

Since I did this, I haven't had any problem.

    Guys

    You two ways.

Inside the console click on the settings button and go to GPS you can reset the GPS from there.

If not then go to settings and go to the bottom and click on system. Reset the console but take note the reset makes the console into chinese. Easy to change back to english. Just take note of where to change the language to english.

This will get IGO 8 with the GPS working. Ocassionally you will lose GPS signal.

One way I know I lose the GPS signal is when I start IGO it doesnt calculate and tell me where to go, Just sits there.

    Default Gps baud rate

Gps baud rate must be changed in system txt on your computer for it to stay on correct setting each time you turn it on.
change rate and port correctly, save then it should work

On my Navman there was a notation that some types of windscreen glass can be none coductive to the GPS signal.
If the glass is heavily tinted or has a heating wire embedded in it apparently can block the signal.
I read that to tint some glass, they actualy use fine bronze fillings that while you can see through it alright, it blocks RF signals like a faraday sheild.
If you found it works better out of the car than in, that could be the problem.
I bought an amplified antenna for the GPS, this plugs into the ciggy lighter BUT has a radiant end that you place close to the GPS and the Receiving end can sit anywhere suitable (magnetic base).
I used this 'amp' inside the house under the tin roof and it worked as though we were outside.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
