Do I need to reflash Xbox360?

Hi all, excuse my ignorance. I have searched through various sources to try and find an answer to my question, without any luck. I believe my sons Xbox360 has been Ixtreme 1.5 (is there an easy way to check)?

Lately, he is experiencing problems playing the newer games - do I need to get it reflashed with the newer Ixtreme?

If it helps, the dashboard is version 2.0.8.8498.0 - I read that this may be important in another thread.

Any help is much appreciated.

if its 1.5, it will need to be reflashed to play the latest games.
After getting it flashed to LT 1.1 you should not need any future updates.
