    Default Multiswitch/ diseqC switch issue

    The setup is as follows:

    1. There are 4 receivers in the system
    2. Each receivers LNB output goes to a 4 way diseq switch
3 Each of the input 1's of each diseq are connected to each of the 4 outputs of a 4 out multiswitch. The same goes for each of th diseq switch 2's that goes to a second multiswitch, all output 3's go to a 3rd multiswitch and all output 4's go to a fourth multiswitch.
    4. Each multiswitches inputs are fed by dual output lnb's, ie 4 dual output lnb's each feeding into their respective multiswich.

Each receiver works fine when it is the only one turned on, and each receiver works fine when each of them is receiving signal from a different dish. The problem exists when 2 receivers try to watch the same satellite and their picture freezes. This happens when both receivers are trying to receive both the same and different polarities. My suspicion is that the problem lies within the diseq switches - they are diseq 2.0

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be going wrong here?
So as not to confuse the situation, just imagine the system only comprises of 1 dish coupled to a dual output lnb, these 2 wires then going into the 2 inputs of a 2 way multiswitch and then 2 of the 4 outputs feed 2 four way diseqc switches and each of these in turn go to 2 receivers. So when one or the other receiver is on, the signal is fine, the moment the other is switched on the stb'e freeze?

    Thanks,

    JK

I forgot to mention that the receivers are diseqc 1.2, ie strong 4653x's

Sounds like you don't really need the diseqcs.
You need a Spaun 4 way multiswitch that has two outlets for your LNB (V + H)
and then 4 outlets (one to each receiver)

suggest you try using individual power injectors ahead of the multi switch (13 & 18 volt). For the strong boxes in 'Dish Setting' :- turn the LNB power off.
Matchmaster have a schematic with their 'single solution multi switch'.

I'm not sure if you understand the full scenario - there are 8 dish inputs (ie a H and V from each of 4 different satellites.

What I'm trying to establish is why the above scenario doesn't work, and try to remedy it as that is the equipment currently available.

    OooO who makes that one?
Also whats the estimated cost and where would I be able to find one? I am looking at setting up a torodial dish and that would be perfect, except for the lack of terrestrial tv component

    Thanks,

Do you know how much the one with terrestrial is? And where can I get one? It looks like this unit is powered as well, that means I can turn the lnb power off in the box?

    Thanks,

This is a pwered multiswitch yes but you leave the power on in the receivers. The switch takes care of all the voltage issues.

I have been looking into this multiswitch and it looks like that plug on the right hand side is actually a ground/earth point. The models that offer Terr. integration has another point in between "sat system 1" and "sat system 2"

They looks to be very nice for the price. May have to grab myself one.

Has anyone had any success controlling a multiswitch like this with a Strong 4653X ?

My Octagons, Dreamboxes and Unaohm S22+ Satellite meter operate the switch correctly. The Strong won't
The Strong has the latest 124 firmware. Tried 123 so far, no go.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the markings on that suggest that it only handles two Universal Quad or Quatro LNBs, not four LNBs. Perhaps there is a way of doing it, but I fail to see it at the moment. It has H/V and 22KHz switching for the High/Low Bands.

As I said. It works well with all my other gear. It's just the Strong won't control it. I know the Strong DiSEqC works because it operates a Moteck directly.

This is how it works with 4 dual standard LNB's, not Universals.
    Port A/B - Tone A, 0Hz
    Port C/D - Tone A, 22kHz
    Port E/F - Tone B, 0Hz
    Port G/H - Tone B, 22kHz
    13V & 18V for polarity switching.

That's fine as far as it goes, but they are not power pass, they generate the 13/18V in the unit.
The LNB 13/18V is only used to switch between the inputs, not power pass to the LNB.

No kidding. Who cares about the 13/18V. You fail to miss the point !!!!!
This point is getting a Strong to control the multiswitch.
