    Default RAM specifications

    Hi,

    Simple question for someone I'm hoping... Is Laptop PC2700 RAM compatible with Laptop PC4200 RAM? ie.can PC4200 RAM be put into a PC2700 laptop mainboard?

    i dont think it can, i thought the 2700 had something to do with bus speed or something. Probably best to wait for someone else to answer

    thanks chimp, i will await, i think pc2700 was ddr and pc4200 is ddr2 so it will not work, can anyone confirm this???

    Correct Navy Blue. One is DDR whilst the other is DDR2

    In any case they have a notch that precludes you from inserting it if it is a damaging difference.

    Correct. Like Z80 said, they both have different slots on the bottom of them to prevent you from inserting the wrong ones

    i normally get a file and make the slots a bit bigger
    then sell it on ebay as ddr1.5
