Mio 169 Digiwalker hand-held GPS

I have a mate selling a couple of these and my folks want to get a GPS.

I have a few quesions if possible:

Are these units any good?

Are they upgradeable?

What are they worth?

Can they use Tom Tom etc?

My missus has a MIO digiwalker, seems pretty good mate. It actually updates maps automatically.
