exactly the same, although dell's usually have a hidden recovery partition. you might want to reformat the hard drive first.
you will need to manually download drivers though.

Or you can reinstall from the recovery partition by following 'step 3' in the link below.

You may want to backup your files first.....

yea watch the recovery thingy
has a habit of wiping your c drive
if you boot to a xp or win 7 disk
just delete the c partition then install to it as a raw partition, this will force it to format then install to it.

if you can get your self a DELL OS cd/dvd installation disk, this will activate the OS during the installtion as it's checks the bios for the dell service tag.
then you will need to install the drivers after that.

Yes... have done it several times.

As mentioned, you'll need to download all the applicable drivers for your model and OS from Dell first, if you don't have a Dell installation/backup CD.

Like everyone else you sure can do it. I've got my old Dell Dimension 8400 running a dodgy copy of Win 7 without any problems. For the drivers I just let windows update find them.
