tried flashing again, loaded keylist and working ppua with full details even loaded rsakeylist - still no go.

I must be missing something here.

Yep, did the telnet to the box - discovered mewcamd is not starting at all, dosnt even show up.

method used;

cd /var/bin then entered ps

so i am guessing that i am missing a start up script.

any ideas what needs to be done?

Hi All,

Well i have fixed the problem with that DM, it was missing a file, that for some reason kept disappearing along with the ppua.

With some good advice i did this;

ok, The problem. is a missing lib file. You have 2 options. You can either go back to v5.28 (I think that's the last version 5 of newcamd) which doesn't need that lib file or try this.

1) Download newcamd again through the down load panel and check to see if that lib file is in /var/lib. If it is then copy it to /lib.

OR

2) From another working DM copy that file then transfer to the /lib file in the problematic DM.

3) Remember to set attributes to 644 in both /usr/lib and /lib folders

Note: /var/lib in Dm5xx - /usr/lib in dm 6xx, 8xx, 8xxx. may also work with 7xxx

4) Reboot/restart the DM.

To check and see if it is now working, telnet to the DM, cd /usr/bin/ then ps, what you will see is newcamd6.10, newcamdbetad and newcamdcardserver appear in the list.

If it does, you are away with pics and sound.

Special thanks to Nexus for his help - i have also added the file "libcamdio.so.0" as a download, if anyone else is having the same problem.

That's good news. Must be something to do with the image/emu compilation. I just rebuilt my DM500 and setup newcamd ppua so it can't be hard!

Apparently, the phenominon occurs in the DM600/800 and 8000 from what i now understand.

Add that file - and it will work, european forums seem to be using it.

I dont have a 800/8000 so i cant test the claim as reported on the european sites.
