Default Only runs if other GPS app already running - iMate 9502

    Hi

    I've got an iMate 9502 - iGO 8.3.2.91972 (also tried v8.3.4.142975)

Have other GPS apps that work fine.

When I install and go to setup GPS it gets stuck on auto search. In setup if I manually enter correct setting port=9 & baud=4800, click box and it freezes everything- have to hit reset button. Though the GPS led starts flashing.

If I put port=9 baud=4800 in sys.txt (see below example) iGO sticks on opening window "Starting" and freezes (sometimes whole PDA).

(Here's the clincher I discovered by a brainwave) But when I fire up other GPS app first, ie wake up the gps gizmo, hey presto, it will then fire up and run as normal - and well for hours.

I've fiddled with sys.txt extensively can't fix it so far

Have also check config.sys - seems OK.

Deleted iGO8\save folder and started again a few times, going through all settings. Loaded a couple of versions on a couple of SD cards, reformatted etc.

Any ideas? For example, any way of waking gps via sys.txt or other means rather than starting other app first.

I rather like iGO so would like to get it to go.

    Thanks
    Mark

    Default It works now

For those reading this thread and interested in the outcome, I got it working just fine.

I first of all run "GPS Test" for Windows Mobile. That wakes the GPS bit.

    ()

I then immediately run iGo, and presto, all systems go. Everything works just fine. The only complaint is that the voice makes a strange load chirp now and again which is a bit annoying.

Tested in country AU (NSW & Qld) and centre CBD Sydney & Brisbane with pleasing results. I like how it says "Turn Next into ..." when close to street rather than "150 metres" as per my others (I have used a few now - TomTom, Garmin & Road Angle). - I can't pick distances when there are a lot of side streets to pick from.

Now my final solution when I was satisfied.
I installed Mortscript and made up a script that fires GPS Test then iGo. Works terrific!
