Default SelectV - sells Italian Pay Tv to OMBV

Good old Selectv is doing their best as usual, first they dumped one of the channels on the 3 channel Italian Package, no apologies or even advising the subscribers now in today's mail comes news that SelectV have sold its Italian Pay TV business to Overlook Management BV, managed in Australia by World Media international (WMI) and in order to keep your service you now need a new a new smart card $30 plus the new organisation bills 3 months in advance, perfect for the good old pensioners who are living on low income . BTW they need the paperwork completed and returned by 7/7/10 or your service will be disrupted. The new service is called MYSAT ITALIA.

    Good one Selectv

Yes it will and you can use all the same equipment that you previously had, which will be interesting actually especially if you had signed up to a 12 mth or 24mth plan including equipment what happens to the warranty on the Select provided equipment given they are not supporting this service?

If you are after Italian TV why not just get a 2.3m mesh dish or a 1.2 solid smaller or larger depending where you live and point it to Asiasat5 at 100.5 E and get the channels unencrypted, plus a whole heap of other channels.

Hi Sathack, yes have visited that idea several times but with neighbours and a council that are less than helpful plus a small backyard its very difficult to do. Having said that it might be the catalyst to push even harder

World Mediia International has always held the exclusive rights to RAI and resell it to Selectv, Austar and Foxtel, it seems now selectv has decided to dump it and wmi wants to continue providing RAI since they already own the rights anyway hopefully though they offer more italian channels then only RAI

Theres usualy money at the root of any change so I wonder if either selecttv isnt getting enough return or WMI want an increase and selecttv is saying 'Arrevideci' ??

Would not be surprised, as there were a few pissed off subscribers after they dumped one of the channels so effectively that left just Rai and euronews and I would say numbers have been dwindling. Most of the hardcore followers got a C band setup, and the rest got Foxtel with Rai or selectv which had the upper hand because you could just subscribe to Select Italian package rather than getting all the Foxtel stuff plus RAI.

Asiasat 5 is the go they have two dedicated Italian channels RAI and Yes Idalia, more to come in the near future. If you can mount the dish in the ground council can't do Sh*t . Best of all it's all free.

just be aware some councils deem any structure 6 feet and over requires consent.
One chap had a stature in his front yard, not a fountain or anything but it was over 6 feet high and they made him remove it.

If you are talking about Leonardo World, the channel itself decided to stop international distribution.
