Default Help obtaining a OEM CD for a Compaq Evo D51S

My wife and I purchased a Compaq D51S Desktop PC a while ago from a buisness that sold off their old computers and it has a Windows XP Pro COA licience sticker on the side of the case, but when we got it the drive was erased and I tried a few times to use my normal Windows XP Pro CD but it won't accept the key that is on the sticker. So I beleive I need a copy of the original CD that should have come with the computer to reinstall XP. So i'm hoping someone has one here that can make a copy for me, I prefer to download a CD Image (ISO, or any other format compatable with Nero) from someone that can do it.

Can anyone here help me out ?

Yes, The CD I have been trying to use is XP Pro sp2 Retail purchased from Myres a few years ago.

I got hold of a Dell OEM XP Pro sp2 CD and it will install using the key from the sticker but it wont activate or do any windows updates.

Here is a link to a picture I took of the sticker (but I blanked out the actual serial number). Maybe someone can tell what version of XP is ment to be used with it. The sticker is attached to the side of the computer. The picture isn't fully clear, the holograms reflect a lot of the flash.

If you need a copy of win xp sp2
    - Bootable ISO file
    - Unattended setup
    - Pre-Activated, so you don't need any activation trick.
    - CD-KEY is integrated so you don't have to enter anything.
    - It contains every single update and patch till the February 2008
    - In the folder named "UPDATE" you can find genuine validation crack (use only if you want to download newer updates (not necessary)).
    - Bonus : Windows XP Media Center theme.

I can give you a rapidshare site that may do the trick
I can PM the link if you want...not too sure about posting it here!

skozzy, hopefully you are sorted out now.
It may be the key has been intentionally expired. We (my organisation) has done this previously when we sold of a business unit, and the sale included all assets but NOT the software licences as these were under an enterprise equipment.

So the key on the transferred PCs could be used to install, but not be activated..

It may be the company you bought the PC from has done the same.

Oh yeah well that is very possible. If I can't use this serial number I will be diapointed cause I can only find XP for sale with systems and the price is higher now then when I bought my XP which is also higher then the price I payed for the D510s computer.

skozzy, well I am sure one of the other guys who offered will be able to come to the rescue.
Of course if that fails, there are other means to get an o/s on and running if you know what I mean.

As a last resort you can usually find XP reasonably priced on Ebay as "OEM" packages ..

I never thought about Ebay. I prefer ligitimate windows over the good stuff ehem... I have bought one of each OS since Win 95 and normaly the older computer (being the wifes) runs the OS I upgraded from, but now there is a need to us XP on both. If I have to buy it I will I just hope not cause when I bought the computer I saw the serial sticker and thought that I was on a winner when buying the computer.

I have refurbished a number of these Evos and activation by phone works in 99% of cases. In the other 1% I need to get the code from an operator. I use a standard OEM XP disk with SP2. I find the phone activation totally reliable. The interesting point Can COAs be cancelled? I have assumed they are always valid.

Pretty sure the COA will be valid for as long as Windows is installed on that hardware etc.
But I know for sure on an Enterprise agreement the keys can be canned so that they cannot be used again to reload (as my organisation did).
I would guess individual keys could be made non functioning as well, so any reload attempt to use them will fail validation.

Its been a while since I asked in the forums for the ISO for the D51, and i finaly found one that my cd key serial worked on.

The Windows XP Pro CD ISO version needed was : X1APOEM_EN
My ISO on the HD is name:
Windows XP Professional (SP1a) OEM (X1APOEM_EN).iso

Happy hunting for those who need it, or drop me a PM
