    One is soft, the other is firm

    I'm sure i trip to Google will give you a definative answer.
    Basically they are both software i guess, it's just Firmware is the basic embedded software that is telling the hardware how to behave. And Software is more like a programme that would then run on that machine.

    Not a great explaination, but hey, it's Sunday morning and i haven't even eaten yet

    Most modern AV Receivers have embedded Firmware to make them run. A unit like that would generally not then run software as there is no option to impliment it

    Yet a computer runs an operation system (Windows, Linux etc), this could be considered the firmware i guess (more likely the Bios though) then software would run on that machine.

    At the end of the day, they are both software by definition.

    wow, i think i just learnt something.

    i thought girls had software and boys had firmware.
