The Foxtel IQ2 STB needs two cable (LNB) inputs,
you could try it with only one LNB input,
but you may loose some functionality
I have two IQ2's and one standard box. one of the IQ2's is no longer being used and i was wondering if i could swap that IQ2 in the place of the standard box so I could record on it, also would this give a better picture as the IQ 2 is meant to be high definition?

Yes, but you will need to ensure you have two cables from the satellite LNB connected to the IQ2 (if it's a cable box, only one coax required).
Only the HD channels will be better PQ... standard def channels will be the same.
If you have been using the two IQ boxes, I would have thought you would have already noticed that.
Ive never setup an IQ 2 before, seems pretty streight forward. the deal is that I entered a subscription with telstra / foxtel and they supplied me with an IQ2 because i was on the platinum plan. now just a couple weeks ago I moved to melbourne from New south wales and as i moved to a new addres I had to get foxtel reinstall, the guy brought a new IQ2 box and installed it today even though I already have one. thats why im wondering, now that I have this spare high def box lying around i dont want it to go to waste if it can be of benifit to me, if not it doesnt really matter though it hasnt cost me anything.
The Spare IQ2 STB is useless.
(should have been returned when you left NSW)
The cards are married to the STB's
& unless the Spare IQ2 has an activated card connected to a active subscription, I don't think it won't work
I don't think any other Foxtel card will work in the Spare IQ2 except the one that is married to it,
But try it, it may be still activated ?
