Is it all cameras or just 1?
Is it on all channels or 1?
Hi all, I've got a kguard SEC-713x 8 port capture card, it works fine with the program supplied.
I'm trialing some other programs, but they all seem to have a common problem, when I watch a camera the image is smooth for approx 4-5 sec, then I'll get a bad frame where it goes all fuzzy or I'll see the image cut in half, then it will come good.
The hardware is all new so the PC is fast enough, all updates installed, latest nvidia drivers and directx 9c
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply.
I only have one camera to test at the moment, but it happens across all input channels.
disconnect the camera input and with a multimeter set to AC voltage
Measure the voltage between the BNC shield and the chassis of the capture card.
Try DC voltage as well it wont hurt.
Let me know what u get, I'm trying to establish if there is a ground loop issue. Before we move on.
When you say chasis of the capture card, you just mean the vertical bracket that holds the pci card in the slot?
I'll try that when I get home from work, and post the results.
Measured in AC I got a reading of 0.00v
In DC it reads 0.002v
Does it go from colour to black and white while the frames go funny?
I just had a similar problem with my dvr card and it was an easy fix.
The PC is as follows
MainBoard - Gigabyte P31 DSL3
CPU - Intel Core 2 - E4500
RAM - 2 Gb DDR2
The Capture card is a KGuard SEC-713x 8 port capture card, which has a Phillips processing chip
Jaycar part # QV3082
What I can't figure out is why does the image look fine with the software provided, but anything else I get these results
I'll post a video grab so you can see the problem.
What was the fix, I'm sure it can't hurt trying it.Originally Posted by global88

After rereading your original post it sounds like its software not hardware. Are you sure of your pal /ntsc settings in you software settings? It caught me out when i first installed my dvr card. Factory settings for cameras was ntsc so i just changed it to pal to work.
Anyway my problem came along after a few weeks.
Ok, my set up is a kodicom diginet dvr card for 16 cameras in a old 1gig pentium with only 256meg ram. Pretty shitty spec pc but works well.
Only 2 infared cameras set up at the moment.
After 3 weeks my cameras pictures started to shake on and off, some black lines across the picture, and sometimes all together and giving a black and white image, sometimes half an image too.
I tried pluging each camera individualy into the tv and they worked fine so it came down to the dvr card.
On my card i noticed a 8mm square blue adjustable resistor, so what i did was to drill a hole in my pc case so i could get a jewelers screw driver onto it while it was in the pc and working.
A slight turn one way made it worse, a little the other fixed it.
If you look at this pic, on top you will see a hole in the case and opposite it a blue component. Thats it.
A few things to try;
BIOS setup: disable unnecessary IRQ like USB…etc
HDD partition, define as primary disk, the primary disk needs minimal 4096M BYTE (4 G.B.).
Under "power management", select "NONE" for screen protection setup
Update the newest driver of motherboard's chipsets like INTEL, SIS, VIA…etc.
Install the newest driver of VGA cards.
Install DirectX 9.0 or higher version. You can download it from Microsoft website.
Display Resolution : Adjust your monitor resolution to be 1024X768 (16 bit).
Have you also installed the KGuard Codec on your machine?
I'm guessing if they have their own codec, then there might be some compression issues with other aftermarket software.
What are the specs on your Video Card or is it on-board?
Hi All, Ive updated all the drivers I could, installed the codec but the result is the same.
I'm going to try the card and software in another PC over the next few days and I'll post back the results.
No its a PCIE Nvidia 8500 or something, just a cheapo card, but I doubt that could be causing the issues??

Are you using the correct power supply for the camera ?
Well, after playing around for hours, trying various programs and reading many FAQ's I've found the solution!!
I had to remove the overlay option in my "directdraw" settings for DirectX
Once I'd done this all programs now display the video as expected, smooth!!!
Thanks everyone for their help!!!
Cheers
