Default Large Hadron Collider rival Tevatron 'has found Higgs boson'

Tommaso Dorigo, a physicist at the University of Padua, has said in his blog that there has been talk coming out of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois, that the Higgs has been discovered.

Well it's all speculation at the moment but what if it has been discovered? I'm not too clued up in the field of theoretical physics but assuming the Higgs boson has been confirmed, what does that mean in terms of the next step? Is there another theoretical, more energetic particle whose existence needs confirming?

It depends very much on the nature of the particle discovered.
I discovered "a ball" in my backyard yesterday. Question really is, what kind of ball is it ?

Rumours also have an tendency not to be true.

Rumours are the only thing in this universe known to travel faster than the speed of light

My theoretical physics is pretty bad at the moment but its all to do with string theory. What does google tell me when I put it together

    (theory)

From my understanding the only evidence that would be able to be seen that might confirm the idea of string theory is a Higgs Boson, and thus finding it would be nice. If not they will have to come out with another theory.

I dont believe they found it because, I didn't have a flashfoward event (maybe there wasn't a neutrino shower at the time!)
Coding in C is like sending a 3 year old to do groceries. You gotta tell them exactly what you want or you'll end up with a cupboard full of pop tarts and pancake mix.

Agree with trash. There are many rumors out there. And about this experiment you all know the related stories about an Armagedon. So... may want and try to make money with stories like that

Just tell me when it finds Tachyon's. Thats the only particle I am interested in, just to prove Trash wrong lol
