Try feeding the output of your Conia into your DV camcorder, then use DV from your camcorder to your Conia.
i.e. The camcorder acts as a bridge. My Panasonic NV-GS11 doesn't give a rats if there's Macrovision.
I have Conia MR910D DVD Recorder and I really need to back up a DVD I have.
It seems it must have a couple of scratches on it other wise I would simply use DVD Decript.
If I try to record the Video/Audio into the DVD Recorder it seems Macrovision is stopping me.
I have tried 2 different DVD players and the same thing happens every time.
There has got be a way around this. I had to lose access to my original copy so I really need to do the backup.
Does anyone have any ideas to help me please.......

You might be interested in this too...
1. Ensure no DVD is in the tray
2. Enter 0086000 (the final 0 makes it multizone)
3. Press Enter
You may need to try this a few times. When it has worked a 0 will appear on your screen next press the power button on the remote.
a video enhancer from jcar will do what you want
some camcorders will do it for you but you will loose quality
... if you have a PC (you are posting here so this might be true) and a DVD R/W drive ... just use some appropriate software (google if in doubt or PM me)... it will do a perfect backup for you - macrovision or not
Have you looked at using "AnyDvd" to remove CP?
I had so many issues with AnyDVD I looked around for an alternative and found DVD43. Works well, doesn't make a nuisance of itself.
As for the original issue, I have a "Dr Video" unit I built from a kit sourced from Jaycar. It deals with macrovision and many other synchronisation nasties.
Thanks for all the replies.
Thanks - This may have worked to make the DVD player Multi region, however Macrovision is still a problem
I pulled out my DV camera - This does not help.
Tried my old VCR Video in to video out - Macrovision is still there.
Remember my problem revolves around not being able to use software like DVD Decrypter, DVD copy etc because there must be a couple of scratches that makes the PC get read errors... On a DVD player this is not a problem as obviously they are less sensitive.
... so Macrovision is the problem I need to get a work around for.
Maybe I should buy a video stabiliser. I know Jaycar has one but it is a bit pricey at $129. Surely there must be a cheaper solution.
Would have thought these would be easily available on Ebay as well... but no nothing for me.
Has anyone any thing other to add... Thanks
have you tried copying contents to pc
it may only be the menu that is corrupt
if you can get the vob files down you maybe able to reauthor
can copy it for you if you get stuck
Yes I have tried copying the VOB files and it is the same same story - I still get the read errors. It has to be pure luck with the scratch to only affect the menu.
Thanks for the offer to do the copy for me, however I would like to get around this problem for both this DVD and for others that might happen into the future.
I believe the only way forward for me on this is to get past the macrovision either by having it turned off on the DVD recorder/player or by insertion of a video stabiliser/macrovision remover.
Has anyone bought a video stabiliser off ebay sometime?
Have to tryed to clean the disk, with one of those scratch repair kits?
Also someone here may have the same dvd that might be able to help you out.
Yes I have done the cleaning and polishing thing with a special kit.
I have already stated that borrowing a DVD or getting someone else to do the copy is not the point. I appreciate the offers but you know what it is like, tomorrow, I will have the same problem all over again with a different DVD.
It is doing my head in ... surely they must be macrovision free devices out there. One person mentioned a "Dr Video" kit... can not find that either.
when i got mine from jaycar they had 2 types and a kit
think the kit was dr video but this was some time ago may not be available anymore
here is a pic of the EA (electronics australia) kitset that DSE used to stock - haven't used it in years but it removes macrovision from VHS and DVD
kitset assembly manual -
might still be available from DSE
regards...
It looks like a kit is still available via DSE for $15... this is more like what I need.
I will give them a call tomorrow
Thanks
Have you tried reading the disc with a different DVD drive? I struck a badly scratched disc recently that my burner couldn't read parts of, but my DVD-ROM drive was able to read those parts, given enough time.
Yes, I have tried different drives and different computers - Same problem happens.
Thanks for the reply anyway
What sort of video card do you have in your pc?
Will it capture? If so, then thats the easiest way with what you have... I used to do this with VHS tapes a century ago...
Cheers
