I hate swapping out wall mounted detectors with no slack for a new detector with a bracket. Annoying but you get used to it.

Neat but still can trace wiring. Couple I've seen posted could spend ages just trying to find the positive feed for a zone etc.

Though the expander had me scratching my head as to why there, surely not just for the relay card?

I dont Normally, I just put a knot in the end so you know which pair is the battery for that particular port (eg tecom 4 doors with 2 batteries)

Seriously, good job and I commend you for affixing a label to the battery. Can I suggest you consider prefixing that with "Installed on:" or similar. It sounds trivial, however there are some people who write a nominal expiry date instead and there's the possibility of confusion.

It annoys me when people can't even be bothered writing a lousy date on a strip of white electrical tape.
I actually walk around with the following tools in my shirt pocket and pants pocket at all times :-

1 x Set of Electrical Linesman Pliers
    1 x Phillips Large
    1 x Flat Large

    1 x Flat Small
    1 x Flat Minature
    1 x Flat Terminal
    1 x Phillips Small

    1 x Black Pen
    1 x Small 110 Punch Down Tool ($3 special)

1 x Hobby Knife for cable Stripping

    1 x Needle Nose
    1 x Cutters Small

1 x Black Nikko (For Cable Marking) Fine Point
    1 x White Nikko (For Batteries )

1 x Roll of Electrical Tape
    1 x 12 Terminal Strip

And thats before I start work, with all of this I can do just about all I need is a meter and a soldering Iron and I can be supa tech

The guys did a job today for a pub, 20 Zones, 4 worked, rest looped out...

And they are complaining about paying 7.70 per week for monitoring, and 800 to repair the faults. where they where getting there faults fixed for nothing, and 10 per month for monitoring....

    ffs...

Meh... and people rag on me for doing 3 wire return loops to get a clients alarm up and working for the night, and then returning the next day/next chance to get it re-run...

    So very very tired....

Know of one particular C service tech here in Adelaide who goes in and makes any zone that is false alarming a type 10. Clients think he's wonderful because their alarm no longer false alarms. Luckily he's nearing retirement age!!

    Geez!

That's the alarm equivalent of your vet putting your dog to sleep and then saying he fixed his barking problem.

    Unbelievable.

Tell me about it. Had to throw the last controller in on the bottom left, looks shite but that was the only real estate we had in the place.

OK, this is a little off topic seeing as it's security alarms, but I'm posting it as it is in the "neat wiring" category. This is a relay panel from an aeroplane that we used to modify by rewiring different relays and removing and installing new relay connections. Talk about lack of space for working though.
