Default hell must have frozen over

I always said hell would have to freeze over before i ever used telstra again for my isp .

But blow me down their new plans are competitive ( decent even ) and i can get adsl 2 from them .

Think ill jump on the 200 gig 12 month $89 , its adsl2 and cheaper than i pay currently for 100 gig adsl1

dont say linux if i wanted it id install it

    hmm yeh looks appealing.

Looking at ditching my slow adsl connection for a cable one now the plans are a bit more competitive.

Do uploads count on these plans - if I remember rightly Telescum used to include the uploads in your download quota - I can't seem to find any mention of it on the page

    Cheers.
When I was a kid, I used to have an imaginary friend. I thought he went everywhere with me. I could talk to him and he could hear me, and he could grant me wishes and stuff too. But then I grew up, and stopped going to church.

yep they still do but with 200 gig a month for $89 shit thats a hell of a lot of bandwith to use up and down.

Im on a 100 gig plan with netspace and its $99 and yes they dont count uploads
but switching to telscum i get ADSL2 instead of adsl1 and i dont even use anywhere near the 100 gig and i upload about 40 gig a month so better deal for me .

And yes i do hate telstra but shit adsl2 for less than adsl1 that im on now is a no brainer
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it

Yep its bloody tempting to churn over....With node BUT I'm in Zone 3, I dont think node will be able to better BP's deal for us Zone 3'ers.... might just wait a month or 2.

Yeah, I'm with internode, I pay $100/month for 120gig, and I get the free newsgroup service, which is worth another 15-20 a month - and of course their service cant be topped - I'm happy to pay a bit extra for a decent service. I've been with them since 2001 (I think), and haven't had an issue so far.

    Cheers.

Similar conclusions this way - on a lesser download plan.

As its the extra things that the isp provide that constitute a 'lock-in' for our household, as need to value the extras like newsgroup service and download mirror/free content + service level.

Although at 200 gig/month free content would become sort of irrelevant, then again it could be like getting a new computer, in that it is really good/cutting edge for the first week, and then painfully slow there onwards as the bar has been raised!

diavalo13666, hope you get the most out of your new provider - as good to see that telstra's investment in enabling craploads of exchanges with ADSL2+ equipment is actually benefiting the consumer, rather than stiffling competition (which I feel the later was the original intention)!

Its unlikely. Telstra appear to be giving cheaper wholesale prices in exchanges that have competitive equipment in them. Which mainly means suburbs of capital cities and large rural towns. I was with Internode for years and was happy and would recommend them to anyone.

    But they cant offer me 25 gig on 8MB ( I cant get ADSL2 ) for $49.95.

well i bit the bullet and put in for a rapid transfer.

as for the filter thats of no issue with the vpn tunnel access i have.

and to top it off they are still giving me the free modem and paying out my $69 disconnection fee even though i only signed for 12 months.

but for $10 less - more quota and adsl2 i had to take the gamble
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it

I have no choice so I was happy in the price change, though they seem to be struggling to update customers (mine is stuck but I'm in no rush)
Coding in C is like sending a 3 year old to do groceries. You gotta tell them exactly what you want or you'll end up with a cupboard full of pop tarts and pancake mix.

Probably busy dealing with existing outrageous clients still locked in to the older/crapier plans - or perhaps there numerous/antiquated billing systems can't handle the demand
