Default Questions about WODE and HDD

    Hi all,

I am hoping that someone can help me out.

We have just taken ownership of a WODE-fitted Wii. The WODE is at Version 1.2A.

When I try to use the ripper, the HDD is not recognised. It comes up with No R/W.

I do know that the HDD does work. It is recognised by the WODE when I first start the unit up.

I am not sure why the HDD is not recognised by the ripper.

    Any advice?

Hey mate, yeah the WODE is a great idea for the Wii. Official discussion board with their actual developers and other techies is best found at and you can have that answered in the forums, specifically the help section:

    Under manuals:

I have not yet purchased one as I am awaiting the "Elite" version in a few months which has the extra USB ports and internal space for a 2.5" HDD. From memory, you might need to create a specific folder/path that the WODE recognises. Check the firmware as well, always best to have the most updated, as I can see 2.1 is available, which is a couple of steps up from you. Only generic advice atm, I am sure someone else who has one will add to this. Goodluck.

No such thing as WODE elite anymore....

closershave, what format is your HDD?

If its NTSC i think you'll need to load up firmware 2.1A.

Thanks for the replies so far.

My mistake with the version - it is actually 2.1A.

    Any other ideas?

Yes there is, they're jsut not making it black, the previous WODE is upgradable, or in a few months time the newer one. Check the forums.

The funny thing is, its like the 2nd or 3rd post I have corrected you on, and you keep getting your nickers in a knot. Settle down snowflake...On the forums, which (believe it or not), is where these people that you talk to, POST NEWS about the current and UPCOMING products, they have advised there is a delay on the Elite, they have mentioned anything in the WODE stand will only be WHITE and also, the main coder is lost /gone which has caused these certain delays and MOST are saying it could even be more than 6+ months away. But hey, if they post it on their site and its wrong, well that just defeats the purpose of FORUMS doesn't it??

Again, if its not constructive, why the hell bother posting it? You feel the need to belittle other members, you got some issues...
    -------------------

@ closershave - can you tell me the setup on your HDD where your games are, the path to them? Also, what format are they saved in?

What time of drive is it??
    Brand?

What version WODE do you have? One with the 2x USB cables?

Do you have any other removable media thumb drives you can test it?

Ive tried ripping in WFBS / FAT32

All should be able to be done on Firmware 2.1A.

No need to create any folders as it will automatically be created for you.

    Are you doing it like this;

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHZ2qK53zMg]YouTube - WODE ripping function - How to copy Wii games without PC, without softmods![/ame]

NTFS is a bit funny with the WODE (I can tell you from experience), id try Fat32/WFBS first up and see if you can get that working.

    Thanks for the replies.

I am using a WD 1TB HDD as the data source. I do not have any other removable media drives I can use to test it at the moment.

The WODE I have has three USB sockets. Does that tell you what version it is?

I have been trying to rip games in exactly the same way as shown in the youtube clip above, but there is no HDD available, according to the WODE.

Why does the WODE recognise the HDD to play files off but not to rip files to?

Is there an easy fix to this?

You need to name a folder called "ISO" to play from hd, not sure if the same applies when ripping it to hd.

I've got WODE with 2 USB and a WD 600GB formatted to NTFS and it rips okay

    Hold your horses?
    3 USB sockets?

You need to plug the two USB cables coming out of the stand / WODE into the back of the Wii console.

The HDD connects on the right hand side of the WODE unit.

I am not sure what else to do.

I tried to connect the HDD to my PC, but it keeps prompting me to format it for use.

I cannot check anything on it.

Is there anything else people can suggest?

If you formatted the hdd wbfs, then download "wbfs manager" for the pc to recognize the drive.

Thanks for the heads up Gerbertron. That has sorted that!

I can now view the HDD on my PC and see the list of games.

I am still at a lost as to how to get the ripper to work for me.

    Are there any more suggestions?

Have you plugged the 2 USB cables into the Wii's back USB ports?
