    Arrow Chinese HU, want to open with GPS map not Navigation Menu

    Hello all, and thanks for such an informative forum!
    I have a Chinese HU running iGo 8.3 i believe( dont have the exact release number in front of me at the mo), most things seem fine and im very happy with it..

    I have 2 questions:

    1, Is there a way to have iGo open straight to the map screen once it has booted up? Mine currently opens to the "Navigation Menu" and then i have to hit the map button. Its getting a bit tedious doing this multiple times daily. Is there a line in the sys that i can change to boot straight to the map screen?

    2, GPS lock takes a while some times, around 2-3 minutes. Is this normal? Any way to speed up this process?

    Thanks for any help and suggestions

    Thanks Bazzle.
    I didnt have a skin folder on my SD card either, so i created one in the content folder and unzipped the gurjon skin to it. Unfortunately no go.

    Forgive me for being a noob, but iGo wont show "skins" in the setup menu, its shaded out therefore i cant apply the skin...

    I read thru hollowmans post, and all i could find was to add the skin to the sys.txt

    Heres my sys.txt: (seems so much smaller than the ones i see posted up on here)

    [map]
    2dheadup=1

    ;[interface]
    ;shutdown_time=0

    [3d_config]
    disable_roadsign_navigation_mode=0

    [interface]
    laneinfo_signpost_enabled=1

    [rawdisplay]
    screen_x=800
    screen_y=480

    highres=0

    I added skin="ui_igo8" after all this but it made no difference. Again forgive me for overseeing anything obvious.

    Any pointers? Thanks in advance.

    Hi dutchie101.
    remove the skin=ui_igo8 from sys.txt.
    Not sure what you mean by unzipped it...
    Un rar the skin as downloaded but leave any zipped files after this zipped, so the file in the skin folder is a zipped file nammed GJxxx.zip.
    The tricky part is getting everthing matching as there are later versions of 8.3 that are _da or driver assist.
    Open the data.zip file in the igo(8) folder and look for a folder named ui_igo8 or ua_igo8_da .
    If it is ui_igo8 go to the Gurjon site and then menu > download > igo > GJ_old_skin > and download something like gj6.9.3p_full pack,. Then try with it. Just follow the file structure as where to place files/folders. It has several extra folders, just the extension folder in the same folder as the igo.exe
    Also add the scheme folder inside the contents if needed.
    Later versions can use the -da skins
    have fun :-)

    Thanks traveller99,
    Did everything you said, mine is ui_igo8. Downloaded and unrar them in the right folders etc, they are there as .zip still "skins" in the menu is shaded out and i cant select anything. You sure i dont have to change any sys file to get it to recognize any skins?

    Ps, i have screen res of 800X400.

    Exclamation

    Thanks for your help Bazzle, I downloaded the file you said, but i dont think it supports my res. Then i found the 800X400 and that confused me by then!

    After almost loosing my cool this morning, somehow i stumbled upon this:

    Start iGo8 with map

    "This works just fine - I use it: data.zip\ui_igo8\common\ui (see attachment), replace the start.ui file after opening the zip.

    Only works with the default Igo skin and no others though. ==> reported to work with Kikker skin "

    dutchie101,
    What's your unit resolution? if you're not sure which one? download this one, put on sd card and run, it'll show your unit res.

    You can download Dimka skin megaduck, that's easy to use, if you like it. My unit 800_480 res too.

    To get it to boot straight into the GPS program I just made a "Shell.ini"(txt file renamed) and put this in it

    "\SDMMC\Igo Amigo\amigo_pna.exe"

    This is for MY unit running Amigo, your's would be a bit different

    where "SDMMC" is what the unit calls the SD card
    "iGo Amigo" is the iGo folder on the card(your's would be called iGo8 or something)
    and of course the ,exe file

    putting this into the root of my sd card gets it to boot directly into iGo

    This is if you have iGo on the SD card
    if it is on the device's internal card I think if you just replaced \SDMMC\ with the "resident flash" or what ever your device calls it's internal memory, but leaving that shell.ini on your SD card it may work

    Why does your iGo not shutdown and reboot automatically when you lose power anyway?
    have you tried that?, don't turn the device off, just remove the power

    The unit already boots to iGo initially. I wanted it once booted to open the map not the nav menu, which i have it doing now.

    Not sure what you mean here? i dont have a problem with the initial boot sequence, just what screen opens after that.

    Ahh ok not problem
    if you download one of the skins, not sure which one now(DimKa I think), but there is an option for iGo8 to start up with the either the cockpit, map or nav menu

    My version of 8.3 works like that
