I let them know years ago by always buying pizza from Ma and Pa pizzerias. The big chain pizzas are disgusting.

my thick crust pizza dough:

4 cups - plain flour
1 1/2 tablespoons - sugar
2 teaspoons - salt
1 tablespoon - active yeast
2 1/2 tablespoons - olive oil
1 1/2 cups - luke warm water

you can mix it all manually but i prefer to use bread maker on dough setting as it proofs the dough perfectly

if you do it manually pop the mixed dough into a bowl, cover and leave it for a couple of hours to rise

all this talk of pizza - i'm off to go make some now

yeah i can't stand eating the cardboard pizzas from pizza hut and dominos, i decided to buy myself a xmas present and bought myself one of those breville pizza ovens, hmm woodfire pizza

Sorry I don't consider Pizza Hut and Domino's product to be Pizza. My friends owns a real pizza shop and his cheapest pizza looks better than what Pizza Hut and Domino's mass produce.

You will pay more, but you can't beat a proper (family business type pizza shop) pizza.

If you find such a shop - and it's friendly - you can get the pizza makers to do some great flavour experiments on half and half pizza with different toppings etc. Not everyone can handle double pepperoni, anchovies or even mushroom etc.

The higher price gives a much higher value foody experience and is vastly superior to the bland cardboard crap from chainstore "pizza" joints. You haven't really eaten pizza if you only visit chainstore joints.
