6Mhz - phoenix
but card is a blank gamma (aka sellers ) you will need a different program and it will need to be set at 3.5Mhz
hey guys,
i finished building my Jaycar programmer and was able to test it out today. i plugged the 2 cables to it (serial & power) and turned on my computer.
its green light and red light were turned on, so does this mean it is working properly?
is there any drivers i need to install for it?
what modes to a select on the programmer? theres 6.00mhz & 3.57945mhz
what about the jp1 pins do i chose phoenix or smouse?
i opened up Gupp 4.4 to do a ATR reset but it keeps saying "no atr from card"
im using a blank gamma card i want to load mys@t on it.
which way do i insert the card chip facing up or down?
thanks hope to get detailed answers
btw im using windows 7

Try using 3.57mhz also you prob need the ocx files. Do a search on here as they have been posted a bit and it will also tell you how to install and register them.

why would i need to register the ocx if the program is running fine? the only problem is that im not sure the programmer is being detected by the computer.
is this the right way of connecting the programmer:
turn off computer
plug in programmer to serial and power from the PSU
turn on
open gupp and press reset.
OR
do i connect the programmer to the computer while its on and the program is running?
thanks
It doesn't matter when you connect it. If the program is running fine then you prob don't need the files.

Just a minor segue but still topical.
I can get access to either an Elvis or a Jaycar programmer, What are the advantages of either or which is the most versatile/adaptable?
I think someone may ask, "Depends what you want to do with it," The answer is I don't know what the future of this hobby may bring so I want to have the best options.
Any help, Advice appreciated.
still having problems getting ATR. are there any guides (step by step) on connecting jaycar to computer running windows 7 and reading ATR, if not could anyone please run me though the procedure?
thanks
You no mention dis!! windows 7 might be the issue. Try an XP machine.

Ok
1: the program is installed properly and no need for OCX files.
2: have you selected the correct comport ???
3: have you tried any other cards apart from that white one which could well be fooked??
I myself would start by grabbing another card and test because this would tell me straight away if there was an issue with the white one.
As you may have noticed many were killed and people have ofloaded them and the reason why they did NO ATR.
As for step by step yep
put in card
start program
press rest
wolla if good card show numbers if bad card show NO ATR
and as i mentioned earlier if it is a sellers gamma i recommend using Panda loader to clean and load the mysat bin @3.57Mhz

thanks diavalo13666 for that, i will try later. i bought the card from the UK so im pretty sure its fine. what im worried about is the jaycar programmer not working but the lights for the programmer do turn on (green, etc) plan b is to get a multi meter and test the voltages
thanks
hmm ok
i would just try with another card
also i really really really hope it has the auss os on the card or it may not load that file
because it may well be a one of the public gammas and as such dont take that file
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it
heres the link from where i bought the card
hmm 1.4 is a public gamma if i recall and you need to load GAM files to them
the file you have would be a BIN
enjoy the learning experience
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it
so what are you saying? i can't load the mys@t bin on the card?
nope. Look in the BST for a sellers card.

i tried the jaycar programmer on an xp machine, im getting the same error messages "no atr from card"
Ray,Diavalo13666 gave you the right answer. The card you got is the wrong card, it will not accept a bin file.

If you try another card,
Also try another Serial Cable, (this was my problem on my Jaycar when I first got it) (faulty serial cable)
you need a full 9 pin serial cable (a thick one, not a thin one),
some serial cables only had something like 4 wires in them (thin one),
also GW1 used to say connect Serial Cable first then power, (could be a risk of blowing something up), (I have mine installed in a computer,)
Failing all this I would say get yourself a Cas3+ programmer
Good Luck
