... be careful when buying USB DVB-T devices for PC's ....

.. there are many on the market and believ me they are not all the SAME ...

Hee are some basics you should be looking for ...

    1. Ensure its TRUE USB2 interface - you will need this if you want to watch HD terrestrial tv

    2. Don't expect to watch ANY tv with a portable antenna - as shown in the glossy pics of the products ... unless you are right next to the transmiter

    3. Make sure the 'tuner' in your device is sensitive - there are many devices which are 'deaf' when it comes to scanning a signal. I found that the Leadtek USB TV dongle has one of the most sensitive tuners.

    4. Check to make sure that the device has a BDA driver ... this will allow you to use the device with 3rd party software which is much much better and feature rich compared to the cheap OEM bundled software.

... my recommedation is a Leadtek USB TV dongle ... this device has worked for me (in a commercial application) flawlessly - used with DVBViewer as the recording / viewing application. It is able to decode / record HD content in any format provided you have the appropriate codec and graph setup. The TV dongle just provides the .TS data ... the DVBviewer is the clever bit of software which allows you to decode the transport stream data and do whatever you fancy
