    Default Help please...Openbox S9

Hello anyone. I have been away from this game a long time, but always remained interested. The other day I was looking around before a work appointment and bought myself an Openbox S9 with a look to get back in said game.

Well...I can ping the box when connected via Ethernet but that is as far as i have got. Tried telnet, web browser, SSH all via either Windows or Linux with no joy. Am i supposed to be able to "get into" the box and see stuff?

I want to play around with softcams, preferably get my Ftel card running in the box on a softcam - i dunno if this is even possible.

I figure i am a smart guy, and as such i have tried learning myself from what i can find with Google...but i have got no where. Am i kidding myself or have i bought myself a new toy which was my intent?

Any help, PM'd or posted i would appreciate greatly.

    Thanks in advance...Matt.

I don't know that those boxes are linux based. You need to look at Dreambox/UltraPlus/Octagon etc.

Default Provider NDS Card on Openbox S9??

Ok, so it looks like this is tougher than i thought. I have searched hi and low for a week now online and i am nowhere.

I really would be happy if i could put my Orange F%$TEL card in this box and then it worked. Then i could hook up my very large drive to record as my IQ2 box is full.

So should it work? If i need to do something - can someone please help me?

    Cheers...again.

The only way I can see you getting it going with your card is if you set up a phoenix card reader to a pc and set it up as a server and your receiver connecting to it via cccam.

There is a plug menu with CCcam in it. You can put the address / ip of you server in there and make the connection active. There is an option to import the CCcam.cfg file from USB so you could edit a standard CCcam.cfg file and put your Box Key in the config before uploading it. Im pretty sure they are mainly designed as a Client box but what I said should be enought to get you going if you know Sofcam stuff.

Guys, thanks, i think that gets me a bit further. Gado - unfortunately i have been out of this game for 7 years. Just recently i thought i would get back into it as a hobby. I figure like Leroy says - i can get nowhere by putting the card in the box itself? Yes it has cccam and mgcamd (i think that is right) but i only have an old Jaycar programmer i made years ago (is that a Phoenix?).
I am figuring Gado that you may be talking about editing the file so i can use my box??
Not sure what a box key is.

Unfortunately i cannot see any guides around which suit this box. So i am kinda stuck. Plenty of guides for Dreambox though - i am thinking i should count my losses and just get one of those?

yes your jaycar is a phoenix card reader. You will need to calc your boxkey from your foxtel box. I'd have a crack at setting up a cccam server on a pc and getting your box connected to that. Once up and running then take a look at oscam. The reason for this is because you now can't get all the movie channels with cccam.
I believe you can do a little more with an UltraPlus but you'll need to do a little more research on that too!

    Default Openbox S9...the saga continues

So when i bought this box the guy in the store threw in an official Aurora card and it worked a treat. So after trying a card at home "the Jaycar kind" it wouldnt show any pictures. So i tried some different FW as it is readily available (not) and no success. Anyhow i tried the card in my Strong 4653x powered it off an on, and hey guess what? Works!
So back in the s9 and i got nothing. This box is driving me crazy...

Just sounds like a firmware issue. Strong will support an I1 card. Not many receivers will these days.

Gado/Leroy - Got it working on D3 Irdeto services, thanks so much for your help. I used to be a regular on these forums back in the day (like 7 years ago) and was amazed at how hard it was to get back in the game. The search feature on the forums does not help a great deal as it dows not lead you to exactly what you need.
My setup now is so easy it is not funny.
Openbox S9 with latest Euro FW
CCcam.cfg uploaded to Openbox with only one N: Line - nothing else
On my PC after a week of messing with Linux i found a very simple Windows vesion of Oscam which works a treat. Used mainly this forum to get my configs right and now with my Jaycar reader (got all the years of dust off it) attached via a USB/Serial converter i have a setup that works for the Aurora services.

I have had a harder time with the Fruity - but i will persisst and get that one sorted too!

    Thanks again.

off one of the Euro cs forums. Google this - HDS2_CMT_AC3_Europe it will take you straight to a site you can get it. Let me know if it worked for you. You will have to register - won't take long.

Ok here is an update for anyone who cares...My Openbox S9 is quietly working away behind me showing pics in HD with great sound (AC3). Would you believe after a week of trying and wondering where i have gone wrong - it was the Damn Belkin F5U109 which i can now officially say was a BAD purchase.
I threw the old Jaycar MKII onto the kids PC and ran Oscam (windows variety) and bingo - up she came.
To be completely honest - this setup really takes 10 minutes no more (or 5 days of evenings in my case).
So you dont need Linux, dont need a VM, do need Oscam for windows and do need a Jaycar MKII and a serial port. After 10 mins setup and a network already in place - you will have pics on your S9 with your fruity card!
