It's especially disappointing for the people that have purchased their own satellite receivers. Is Foxtel going to give us a discount for using our own equipment now?
I received an email from the person I deal with at Select and the news is as much a surprise to him also.

as a long time customer of selectv I would have thought that there would have been some communication by now.
If I have to change to foxtel then I don't think that I would get a good deal. If foxtel agrees then I want to pick my channels to the equivalent I have at selectv for the same price of $29.99. After that then they can go jump

Noticed, for me at least - the MySelecTV online account bits n pieces are disabled.
Slowly, she goes....

My belief is that both Foxtel & Austar will offer free realignment of your dish..... and that's about all.
No special deals, no card-only subs.
Take it or leave it.
Verry poor nobody has been contacted yet.
Apart from those of us in forums and maybe a small percentage who read the papers.... I bet the majority of selectv customers have absolutely no idea yet that they are about to lose their service.
to be really honest it really sucks, the people who diligently kept paying for selectv's service and this is how they are treated
don't think it is good PR

This isnt unlike that Ethnic TV company that 'collapsed' a few years ago and left many customers wth owned equipment and pre-paid accounts.
While I doubt the owner of SelecTV hasnt done this just on a whim, it does cast a cloud over the whole industry and I think it would make many very cautious about dealing with any company no matter what they selling who offer long term pre-payment arrangements.
While it might save you $50 a year by pre-paying, if they cease operating you could loose several Hundred.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
