    Western Digital 500GB World Edition External Hard Drive
    Product No. SYWDGINC50

    * Gigabit Ethernet connection – high performance 1000/100/10 Mbits/s compatible Ethernet connection.
    * Capacity guage.
    * 7,200 RPM (nominal) spindle speed.
    * Average seek time 2ms (8.9ms read).

    I am thinking of getting a NAS, as I require external storage + I want to be able to record from my DM-500S to the external storage device hence it being Ethernet compatible ...

    Does anyone have one of these? are they any good? does it handle the recording data fine from dreambox?

    Value for money? ($199)

    gigabit is pointless for a dreambox

    not too fussed about the gigabit...
    i just need something to record stuff to from my dm-500... it would be for good use to store all the movie and stuff rather than on my computer...

    now that I REALLY think about it, its probably worth putting bit more money and getting a DM-7020S and chuk'n one of my hdd's in there....

    Hahaha, I just checked your link and it says they are $199! Thats pretty cheap I would of thought, 750GB is $249.99 and the 1TB is $319.99 all with FREE SHIPPING! But when you click on the add to cart it takes you to the calculate shipping page where it is the US online store (links from the aussie site) and down the bottom of the page it says

    "Note: The Western Digital Online Store is only for purchases made in and shipped to addresses in the United States.
    Due to shipper restrictions, we cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes, APO/FPO. U.S. territories or international addresses.
    Details >

    Can any one confirm that the shipping is still free?? I did put in my postcode and it said it was???? Not sure.
    Anyone know how this drive will go with a Xbox Media Centre setup?

    Cheers,

    Simon.
