It's the same animal really so I'd expect so. I haven't seen any advertising on TV though. And Austar advertise a bit on the country fta stations.

I'd be wondering if Austar decided to go HD, that they'd use Croptells HD IQ2.

    Just a thought.

Me, well I await the SF918.

Dont think they will use Foxtel's. If they could have used the IQ's then they would have done so rather than drag out the My star release date.

I wonder if Austar would have to buy a license for NDS. They'd have to have NDS cards made for them too. I'd prefer they use
irdeto at no extra cost to them so you can use your own DVB-S2 receiver.

Pheggs, many would prefer they keep Ir2 for HD - but with Fox looking at purchase, we'll see, - play into that the so called white card impact.

Think then of other providers using IR2. Eventually something will need to happen with those cards I would think; the providers goto say Ir3? or change encryptions altogether, if so - not good for say SelecTV with their owner-gear business model, so supported by many folk.

Having said that, I see a greater number of bids for SelecTV decoders ad cards on Ebay, slowly it builds, hope it continues.

I can only hope the ACCC block Fox's purchase of Austar.

I don't see how they could, they currently don't compete against each other. So a joint venture wouldn't be any less competitive then wha'ts happening currently.

If the ACCC do their job properly Fox should be Australia wide and Austar should be
Australia wide in direct competition of each other. None of this
Austar stay off our turf Fox bullshit that exists now.

If they were to compete head to head it could only be at retail level, as Foxtel has the vast majority of the channels. Retail competition would hardly be worth.
