windows media player problem

Hi , everytime i go to play a movie it goes to full screen and i can't do anything. i have to turn the computer off and back on again. is this something that can be changed in the settings . i think my other media player programs do this as well, no matter which one i use. thanks.

which version?
maybe try 10 or 11 if you havnt got them

i think it is version 11. i have tried changing some of the settings to see if that helps .thanks.
