What's the motherboaed? vnp5kpl doesn't google to anything.
Hi all, on my pc I'm using a vnp5kpl m/board, is there any firmware upgrades I can do to chnage the port speed, as everytime I plug in a usb device in either the front ports or rear ports the message comes up with "'this device can perform faster"
I can't throw in a PCI usb card as I there no slots available!
I am surprised that even the rear ports of which there are 4 are not usb 2 supported ports.
any suggesstions

Go to the Start button --> Run and type in devmgmt.msc scroll down to USB controllers and one of them should be "enhanced", this is the USB 2 controller. You could try updating the driver with the latest USB drivers from the ASUS site.
There is an application that can monitor your usb ports and may help to diagnose your USB setup
In Device Manager, click on the USB host controller, click the Advanced tab and then check the box on the bottom of the window that says “Don’t tell me about USB errors.” I think you need to do this for each USB controller listed under USB in Device Manager so that the error message will not appear no matter which controller the device gets plugged into.
Another cause is from recent BIOS updates, try this...
BIOS -> Advanced -> CPU Configuration. Check that the setting for USB 2.0 Controller is set to [Enabled]. Then check USB 2.0 Controller Mode. it should be set to [HiSpeed).
Thanks guys......I will also give both of these tips a go later in the week, but for now I seem to have fixed the issue, but just having a quick look in device manager there seems to be another device that needs the driver updated/reinstalled.
I'll let you know how I go, thanks heaps again
