I should say that it almost as if the 'alarm system' was reset.
Hi,
recently the C&K 236 was beeping and flashing LEDs on the control panel. All I remember that the LEDs (two of them) were yellow and not red, but I cannot recall which ones. The flashing and beeping was occuring every maybe 40 minutes but it was hard to determine that exact timings as they would be inconsistent.
What I did to reduce this problem was to turn off the main power and leave it on battery - the battery lasted almost 2-3 days and then just before the battery was about to run out of juice the screecher went off at around 11pm !! so I knew the battery was about to finally go. I then went and powered on the battery and for almost 3 months I had no problems until about 4-5 days ago when at 03:00am I heard the console beep and flash lights once. This occurred again the following night around 03.00 a.m.
I'm just wondering if I need to replace the battery? Has anyone else had the same problem? I don't know how old this C&K 236 alarm system is b/c I purchased a second hand house.

Is the cable for the dialler connected ?
Service light on steady Bell / Fuse Fail
Service light Off is Normal State
ServiceL ight Flashing Slow is Watch Dog Reset
Service Light Flashing Fast is Fail to Communicate
Power Light on Power is Okay
Power Light off Panel lost A/C
Power Light Flashing Battery Low
you can do a battery test by pressing * 64 # this will load test the battery
takes about 2 minutes during the test the pwr light will be off
If the battery is okay the keypad will beep twice
If the batterty is low or dead the pwr light will flash and the keypad will beep 5 times
remember to press *1# after you cause an alarm to reset your zone memory lights
I have a 236i/L motherboard and it does not have any phone connections.
I did a std battery test and the first time I did *64# the service light came on for a slit second and then went off. I wait for over 5 minutes and nothing happens.
I then did a *1#
I decided to re-run the std battery test and this time it worked. I heard 2 beeps after 2 minutes.
I remember by looking at the panel that the Service and Arm LEDs flashed yellow for a split second and a beep was sent out - but this is random. This morning it did not do it and it behaved itself!.
I also have random short beeps on my C&K 236i system.Code:you can do a battery test by pressing * 64 # this will load test the battery takes about 2 minutes during the test the pwr light will be off If the battery is okay the keypad will beep twice If the batterty is low or dead the pwr light will flash and the keypad will beep 5 times
I did the battery test: *64#
After 2 mins - the keypad does not issue any beeps at all.
I unplugged the 240V power pack and after a while (1 hr?) the SERVICE LED came on (as expected)
Any ideas?

Aust standards dictate that a battery should support normal operation of the system for 4 hrs (monitored) or 48 hrs (unmonitored). If you suspect the auto battery test may not be working then unplug the mains for the day & make sure it holds up. That will be a reasonable (but not difinitive) test of the battery. As previously stated when the battery voltage approaches the level where the electronics cannot function , the siren will sound a death blast.Another possibility is that the chime feature has been accidently turned on. This will beep the codepad whenever a certain detector operates.
What colour light or power, service, arm lights is on/off/flashing fast or flashing slow?
I would say the panel is doing its daily battery test at about 3am and failing it
as it loads up the battery would explain why screamer going off as they do on a 236i with low power
