Shame you cant watch them on the mediastar and lets hope there is an answer to it soon.
    With a subcard of course.

I've got my VAST box working, well almost, with a Harmony One, only button I can't get to work is the TV Guide no matter how many times I've gone through the "learning" process.

The remote is the worst I have seen (even worse than the clone dreamboxes) and I can envisage a lot of them packing it in after a short while. I couldn't manage to program the remote to a universal remote either. As for the menu functions, they are a bit of a joke; obviously designed to totally constrain any experimentation with other services etc.

Agree - its almost impossible watching Aurora on a big widescreen - the resolution collapses under the strain although a big plasma works better than a big LCD/LED. Result on a 55" LED appalling - 58 " samsung plasma does a better job in processing the 4:3 aspect ratio.

I wonder if we can quote to the Digital Task Force the published claims on that comapanies site that all who are currently able to see Imparja and Southern Cross can now have a VAST service activated ?
They very ambiguously skirt the '15th of December' and 'The end of the Year'.
The query is does this cover the 'Black Spot' areas as well?
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

As it stands ATM... Only areas in the TV1 map 'yellow' area will be given access to VAST on 15 Dec 2010.

'Blackspots' outside the TV1 map 'yellow' area have to wait until 6 months prior to the analogue shutoff date for their area, which in some cases, could be mid-2013.

    I'm confused...but thats just me I guess.

When looking at the TV1 map, the licence area is grey, the rest yellow.

So according to what you understand mtv ( and your usually right), then using your methodology, if for example you lived in Griffith, or Coffs , a yellow area, can you have VAST dec 15 2010
I would have thought not, as it is not in the licence area that is marked grey.

The more I read things, the more confused I get...I'm sorry.

My aunty I want to get the box for keeps moving, and I want to ensure I can get her to live in a VAST applicable area now..lol

Looking at the yellow area on the TV1 Map, Coffs isn't included.

Actually, the stupidity is on the part of the Government, in this instance ACMA.

They have two different maps of the TV1 area, one map showing yellow as the licence area and a a second map also with a yellow area, but on that map, yellow is the area which is not the licence area (grey is the licence area on that map) so we were both correct, viewer.. because we were loking at different maps.

Either way, both show the licence areas when you match it with the map legend.

It's all good... easily confused with conflicting colour codes on different maps.

If there was only one map, everyone would have been on the same 'page'.

I'm sure there would be many others confused by this.

MTV,Just so I can get on the right page too, can you post the link for the area SOUTH of that one you did for Viewer down to the Victoria border or at least to the ACT please?
I should be between 2 yellow areas if I have looked correctly but I just want to see the one thats finishes just north of my location.

    Gordon,

    I can do even better

Here's the entire Eastern States' Area, so you can select which ever area you wish.

If I recall your location correctly, it's on map sheet 15.

I'm confused. Google searches indicate the VAST box, a UEC DSD4121 is black in colour.

Looking at Mad Electronics their pic shows a completely different model and is grey, however the model number is the same.
I called them and they confirmed the colour is grey and not black, and that they only takes orders through their website, then their warehouse mails out the box to your address. I asked if they had any there and if they could open one up, to which they replied they can't and that their stock is only for people who purchase online and want to pick up from the store. They also mentioned that if some people have black ones, they probably would be the international version that is not designed for Australia, as theirs is grey, they have sold a large number and is designed for VAST in Australia.

For those that do have one, or know of someone that has, what colour is theirs and do they resemble the one on the Mad Electronics website.

The one I just purchased from Scieq is black and looks nothing like that. It came with all the VAST doco etc.
